I wont mention names or location BUT
Dude it scared the shit outa me. The front tyre was so bald it was practicly a slick. --Actually no a slick would have been better.
Please dude -Get a new or even a second hand tyre --Like now.
In this weather you WILL fall off.

Heh.

Actually, you BETTER mention names Frosty, or we'll all just assume it was KK.

Uh...

It *was* KK, wasn't it? :p

nah... he woulda carved some tread into it with a hacksaw :niceone: seriously though, you dont really need front tread if you spend all your time on the rear wheel :msn-wink:

Skimp on your tyres and/or your brakes and it WILL end in tears.Even if the roads are dry you`ve got more chance of a puncture with a worn tyre, trust me if you get a front tyre blow-out you`ll never ever want another one, seriously scary.

I'll second that !! The only thing worse than that is to get one going down the nauranga gorge in the middle lane in front of a truck ...... :sweatdrop ...needed new pants and bike on that one ..most definitely no fun at all

I had just over 2mm on my front tyre and thought I'd go for one last ride to get it close to legal min...crossing a wooden bridge out the back of Paparoa I felt the front wheel smack something, that was close I thought, coulda damaged the tyre - sure enough next corner the front tyre was flat, that was in the morning and I got home around midnight. No more last rides to wear out a tyre for me! Worst part was waiting all afternoon in the cafe in Maungatoroto for the wife to come with the trailer - ''when does the bar open?'' ...'oh,very soon' I didn't realise they were talking days, not minutes.

I've had a couple of front blowouts mid corner, never crashed but it's one of the scarier out of control situations you can do.

Front tyre blow outs mid-corner and you held it all together!!! Thats impressive Motu. :not:

A mate of mine died on his bike back in '93, and bald tyres were most definitely a contributing factor. I don't mind the rear getting a little low as rear wheel slides are manageable, (and I don't ususally ride in the wet) but the front is another story.

I hear from the ol' man that he saw a biker out on a gixxer with a very worn rear tyre... nice big flatspot, went through the tread, through the webbing/fibre stuff, and into the rubber on the other side :gob: that was asking for trouble.... and he was riding on the open road... a rear wheel blowout at even 100ks is not something I'd like to try...

im not sure where you work XJ but my front tire was very bald, ask andrew, it was slicker than slick. I've had it swapped now with a spare tire i had which still has the chicken strips on it :)
