Today I sold my gn.
It was a bit sad, watching it disappear down the drive for the last time and now there is an empty spot where it used to stand in the garage. :bye:

But . . . . . . just a little further over stands the new resident. The Vulcan.
So far we have travelled 250 careful k's. Not a lot yet, but we are working on it.
So am back to being an really-early-morning rider with plenty of practice at stopping and starting. I have a 100 k. circle and will be riding that repeatedly until I get comfortable with her.
Glad there is a long summer ahead because I need all the practice I can get.

Have you posted any pictures of the Vulcan?

No pics posted yet because I am having trouble resizing them. Haven't been able to figure it out yet. Am kindof at a dead end re options. Think I need some help here . . . . . . . but from where is the big question.

Congrats on the new bike Blueskies. May see you out and about some morning , (depending on what you mean by 'early'.

Blueskies
1st December 2006, 13:12
Thanks for the good wishes eliot-ness. By early I mean about 5.45am if the weather is right . Not a lot of traffic to deal with while I practice.
I have spooked myself in regards to turning this bike into my awkward-to-me driveway so did not go this morning, but I HAVE TO LEARN to handle it. Practice, practice, practice . . . .
The Vulcan is red, I wear a red crash helmet and one of those horrible but easily seen green vests with reflector stripes. Cheers.

hey maha man . . thanks . Sure is a big step up, but mostly an enjoying it.
As said in previous post I am having trouble with the turn in to my drive but apart from that am going good, albeit stopping very carefully ( and choosefully - if that is a word )

Woohoo! New ride and new skills to learn and master! Good on you for taking a sensible and dedicated approach - looking forward to piccies! :scooter:

hey gijoe, thanks for the reply. At this age, sensible and dedicated is IN - there really isn't any other choice, unless it's not riding at all and that's OUT.
Pics asap.

Congrats and all.....what is a Vulcan? (I'm new to bikes - seems refreshing to have a bike with a name instead of random letters and then the engine size!)

Blueskies
1st December 2006, 16:59
Hi McJim ... the Vulcan is a mid sized Kawasaki cruiser and my big learning curve at this moment. I will post piccies just as soon as I find out why I can't shrink the **** pics enough. Soon, sooooon, I hope .

Hey Blueskies - congrats on selling the GN, I was looking at it in case my husband wanted to have a matching bike to me, to go with our matching tracksuits and socks and sandals....but he seems to think I am going to upgrade and leave him with my GN!

Can't wait to see pics of your bike - and those vests arent ugly! I wear one and love it, people can see me for sure!

Gidday Blueskies, congrats on the Vulcan, keep us posted on your progress with this new bike.

Here is a link to the microsoft picture resizer, I got it referred to me months ago and it is very easy to use once installed.

Thanks everyone. I am still trying to post pics - must still be doing something wrong. But at least with BuckBuckNo1's help I have managed to resize them. Thanks Buck. That's progress. Will keep trying re posting.
The bike is beautiful. I am a little intimidated at times (my drive entrance does that to me) but hanging in. Geared up at 5.30 this morning - only to find it on the point of rain. Stood around staring at the sky for ages, but finally opted for breakfast and this site. Maybe later.
Thanks for the welcome to the Vulcan family HeyJoe2. I am delighted to be a part of it. my beautiful bike.
Lucy ... maybe we should start a Lime Green Vest Club lol
Cheers

Hi K.B'ers.
I have just ridden the Vulcan up to Dargarvile for breakfast. left home at 5.30am. 222km round trip. Nice. Wonderful in fact. I loved it.
The ride up was perfect. Clear skies and little traffic. The loooong stretch of very new seal with lots of loose stones just before Dargarville was a bit unwelcome, but flat and easy enough to handle.
The ride back was a bit windy but was glad to see the gathering clouds hiding the early morning sun, as was often riding straight into it.
I'm now getting much more comfortable with this new bike and really appreciating the ease of handling and responsiveness she has. Plus that wonderful power when needed.
Wonder of wonders - I even managed the turn into my drive entrance reasonably well too, including the unexpected appearance of the neighbour and a child right where I would not have wanted them to be.

My day is off to an excellent start . . . . .

Lucy[/QUOTE]

Glad to hear that about the vests, im a newbie and was wondering if i was going to be a disgrace to the biking world by wearing one, but i want to be alive for the next ride :scooter:

congrats on the new bike vulcan !! it sounds cool:Punk:
