RM250 = MotoX bike. Purpose built off road race bike

RMX = there are may different models. Ther are two main ones. A Trail bike, that is not road regesterable. They have a heavier flywheel and different chamber. Much more forgiving bike than the RM.

The other model of the RMX is the road version. Very heavy, tin tank. Low seat height. I have one, it is a great bike. has self mixing twostroke oil, along with lights etc. Again bigger again flywheel, mild poting with a smooth three stage powervalve (that always craps out) Chamber is full of baffles so it don't got much peaky top end for a two smoke. great bike though.

How long would an RMX last between rebuild with road use? They look like fun!

they are in the same boat as the KDX realy good bikes but if you want to MX at a compertive level then go for the RM, they are good for the trail riding or a little MX but not made for it.

Ummm probably quite a while. we use ProX pistons in ours, they only have a single ring. we normally get around 200hours out of the ring, and around 600 hours on a piston.

Standard double ring would last much longer....

The 95 model would be find for an intro to MX. a RM250 might be a bit of a handful at first, so best to learn on something a little more tame.

Depends, Do you race for fun, or race for the win?

I was thinking Psycho commuter/super motard.

If you want to race on it, or heck even trail ride on it the RM would be an awesome choice for an experienced rider. But a total liability for a beginner.

A friend had one as his first trail bike having ridden for say 10 years & being mid 20s he struggled & it bit him a few times. Ended up selling it & not replacing it.

If you want to mx then go have a look at a few races & then buy a 125. If you are rich then buy a 250 four stroke & keep throwing parts at it at recommended intervals to stop it blowing big time. All MX bikes have service schedules you need to keep to.

If you want to trail ride then an RMX is a good bike, but a KDX would be better to start on, not knowing your experience.

But real men trail ride FA50s.
