View Full Version : TROLLS
I was on an American site a while back and made a simple typing error. I was disappointed in the unfriendly reponse I received so have not bothered with it again but it did raise an interesting issue which I had never heard of before. I was accused of being a Troll or Trolling. When I bit back some of the more friendly types gave me this address to investigate. There is a whole world on internet launguage out there I had never heard of (and in reality do not give a shit about) but I thought to myself..........
Can you spot a troll on this website???? :kick:
I know of one who stands out like a pig in a synagogue
Should we name them??
Could we own up to being one
Can you still be a nice bloke/blokette and troll
Do we really give a shit one way or the other
If you do not know what a Troll is have a look here........
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_troll
I suppose the next question I will get asked is " Am I trolling by raising this?"
Hmmmmm something to make those grey cells spark on a cold winters day.:spudwave:

Hmmm. I hope nobody thinks *I'm* a troll.
That's a good article, hadn't looked that topic up on Wikipedia before.
TBH I don't really think we have a troll problem on KB, and I hope it stays that way.

Trolling, interesting. In the UK we have another term for 'Trolls', and it's Twat. The act of Trolling is of course being a right twat.

No way I've never done it. Anyone who has must be a satanic homosexual cop.

I used to post on a couple of the conservitive American gun forums. They said I was a troll just because I had a different veiw on the subject of gun controll than they did. Same on the Militia forums. These bozo's are something else. Trolling if that what I was doing can be fun. What realy pissed these guys off is that I did my homework on this issue and if you are going to go trolling, if that is what I did, then be prepared for a time consuming journey. You have to be able to counter their arguments and in the end they just got nasty. Having said that I learnt more about the American system of Government than some of the Americans knew themselves.

Oh come now surely you cannot seriously expect us to believe that Americans are perhaps shallow minded creatures with a lack of ability to consider any other opinion other than their own narrow perspective of the world. I have never seen that happen before:brick:

I think if you're going to take the piss out of someone and don't want them to get the wrong end of the stick, then use smilies to portray your intentions.
A picture (or smilie) tells a thousand words so they say.
Several KBers in here don't use smilies and its difficult to know if they are having you on or not, especially if you don't know them from a bar of soap. I know I bite well if I think they are serious.
I think not using smilies when taking the piss is indicative of trolling.

I agreew ith JR - I don't think we have a trolling prob on here - some of them come and go (Sk8r Boi)......:brick:
As for piss taking - well that is expected, I know I don't use smilies :niceone: :not:  , but then by now  , I would hope no one takes what I say seriously anyway.

The domestic abuse issue is pretty rank alright, no doubt after several beers as well as an AB loss.
BTW - what happened to you for the Brazilian GP ?

Go to any of their gun/sporting/political forums and find out. Americans love to talk about their freedoms. Nothing wrong with that. But when you point out to them that their toll roads are a contradiction..........well as I said go and find out.

Just try mentioning that perhaps the rest of the world might just enjoy a bit of freedom from them and their war-mongering and they really get upset.I briefly used a bike site their and the place was full of meat-heads trying to "out-macho" everyone else with how much they weighed(!!!!),how big their pick-up was,how much chrome the Harley had e.t.c. when in truth most were probably day-dreaming geeks. Some pillock actually said he was on his way to Britain(in his Jeep Cherokee no less, typical of the intelligence)to "blow your fool head off boy".They`re funny for a while but soon get boring.
I`ve been labelled a Troll elsewhere, and possibly in the "Zed thread" but I just speak my mind, which is surely the whole point of any forum.

And you hijacked poor Stinkwheeler's thread. Him being a shy, uncommunicative youngster with a self-image problem, too. Shame on you.

Absolutely. I ran into a guy at a party one night who makes a habit of trolling. Knowledgable sod, anyway after a long talk and few bears he told me he collects trophy's. As soon as he is called a troll he places a troll icon on his home page along with the forum site. There's actually guys out there who specilize in this...........not for me. To time consuming.

Not to mention the fact that street disorder offences go through the roof when they lose.
