Hey folks.

What a bloody awesome day we had yesterday (2/12/06) for the Auckland BRONZ Annual Toy Run for the Sallies.

Met up with Blue Thunder and exup400 in Takanini and bailed through nice and early to BMW.

Got there about 0920 and was a bit surprised to see about 20 bikes in total in the carpark, but that changed in about 20 minutes, and soon the numbers had swollen considerably - I believe the official estimate was nigh on 400 bikes.

Had a bloody good time dribbling over some of the bikes, naturally Daisy got her fair share of attention. Well okay, only from those who wanted to whine about the bee-yootifull aroma that only a 2 stroker can offer.

Leapt into the fray at departure time, after being told by a friendly copper on a big fat BMW to "forget the fact I was wearing L plates for the day, to have fun, and thanks for turning up to support the sallies" and headed for a very empty Motorway.

I loved it. 3 lanes. 400 bikes. An absolute SHITLOAD of noise.

Blah blah, rolling block all the way through... fun... few dickheads almost side swiping... etc etc...

Hit Queen St, and the fuzz had it all for us as well - saw Mr Thunder gleefully weaving on the incorrect side of the road (cos he bloody COULD!) but refrained from joining him, as unlike he, I had no wife, and could freely perve to my hearts content, so was toodling at a reduced pace...

Finally crawled round to the carpark at the back of Britomart, leapt off the bike and rubbed some life into me bum, and joined everyone in a ceremonial dumping of a toy on the offering pile.

Was standing alongside me beastie when I hear "Mr Donor I presume?" And lo! I was standing before the one and only Ixion - top bloke, he hath most excellent and wise words, and has re-born my love, nay LUST for my cycle. It IS a beautiful, noisy, smelly, obnoxious, antisocial piece of work. Daisy shall NEVER die.

The band played carols, we all felt good and fuzzy, the five-oh left everyone alone for the day and I enjoyed a leisurely ride back with the South Side mob I had come through with. Via the Waterfront. And several other areas. ...but that's another story.

HIGHLIGHTS!

* No longer a motorway virgin!
* No longer a charity ride virgin!
* No longer a pack ride virgin!
* Cops are human - dispute if you will, but they treated 400 bikers very well!
* Ixion has uncanny powers of motorcycle divination!
* It feels good to help.

So, rock on the 11th of Feb, Westpac Helicopter ride. Next Toy Run is 1st of December 2007, mark them in you diaries now.

Cheers folks. See you on the road!

Glad to hear ya enjoyed it mate!!

bike coppers must be human cause even the Aliens dont claim us as theirs!!

just to put it straight the friendly copper must have been on a BMW (they didnt want the secret weapons on display at BMW HQ!!!!!

The Honda was locked away at home (I used my westie disguise and rode the turbo for the run!!)

you would be surprised how many off duty coppers where there...some came up that I hadnt seen for years (not all of them were recording your details for future reference, lol!!!)

Sigh... duly noted and amended, ta :D (I blame the sun for fuddling my brain, not used to seeing it for more than 90 minutes in one stretch of late, and yesterday, it was just - there!

So, rock on the 11th of Feb, Westpac Helicopter ride.

Saw various groups heading south yesterday to Mt Wellington. Even though my son was at cricket I found myself following the group to BMW, where I eventually snapped out of it and returned to my son's cricket game :(

I really want to go on one of these charity rides...............hmmm 11 February that could be a tough one................

Reason:

I get married on the 10th :gob:

Rhino & Scorpygirl - Good to see you out there....... and yep scorpygirl those lessons are gonna happen.......

Big Dave - directing traffic into the carpark at the end and standing up to the security guards.. well done mate!

Donor - Sorry I didnt get to see Daisy or meet you......

Run into Ixion wandering about the place.

Donor you should have joined us all on the ride afterwards for a quick bite to eat at Mission Bay and then ride up to Wellsford and then the BBQ at busapete's.

RiderInBlack - Yep you were told Mission Bay...... how did you get that confused with Brown's Bay mate...... lol.

Yes it is nice to have the Southern Motorway just for motorbikes.

Yep it was fun even if there weren't as many bikes as there could have been. Discovered the Farmer's Market at the back of Britomart... mmm crusty bread, fresh tomatoes and blue cheese :D

Big Dave's traffic-directing antics made me laugh.

Next time the SV will stay at home and the MIGHTY VOLTY will have her turn.

Yep Bloody awsome ride for a great cause. Pity the numbers were a bit low next year lets all make a better effort and invite or tell at least 2 mates and we can double the crowd.
Klingon: my wife also discovered the market, much to the discust of my wallet but the cheeses and other foodstuffs were indeed most delisious!!!!!!!! and seem to have found a new home at my place.
To all that were there GOOD ON YA for backing the cause and to BRONZ well done lets hope for many more successful rides like this.
Merry Xmas to All.
