Hi people,

Just a short note to say reading peoples posts here and advice etc has been awesome. I just got my learners on 25/11/06 and a week later had my first bike in the garage. A Suzuki FXR150. I was looking at either this bike or the GN250. I am SO glad I got the FXR. its so much fun and easy to learn on. I used to own a nifty 50 when I was 16-19. but now at 29 I am glad to be on a bike that keeps up with traffic hehe

so any learners out there if your looking for a good bike to learn on (as long as your not too tall) I would recommend the FXR150. I'm 5'8 and weigh around 63kgs so the bike doesnt need to work too hard with me sitting on it!

only things to worry about are the mirrors are not the best (as others have said) but when going for full licence etc they expect you to be looking over your shoulder and all that. one should never rely only on mirrors. One other thing is the speedo is out. my one seems to be about 8-10kmph out. IE if I'm going 69kmph I'm actually doing about 59Kmph.

But yeah like I said, thanks for te advice people give to learners on here and for my part, if you are looking at an FXR, its a good bike to learn on :) :)

yer, good learners bike like a gn but a bit more sporty, not quite a bike for long distances but good for round town learning for sure

Welcome along....the speedo thing is quite normal for FXRs. In fact most bikes read high - perhaps 5/100
