I don't want to detract from what has happened to Bruce and Darryl in any way, but many have asked after me since my off a few minutes before Bruce and Darryl had the head on. :(
For no apparent reason my rear shot out on one of the left sweepers about four corners from the intersection towards Whangamata from the Hukuia end.
I was using maintenance throttle, i.e. Not powering out, was not even down on the pegs and the rear felt like it had been kicked out. I went down hard.
Just got back from Counties and have a broken ankle and sprained wrist with pulled tendon. Thank God for leathers, boots and gloves.
Nothing compared to the other two guys :(
Just wanted you all to know I'm ok but won't be riding for a little while.
I'll miss ya's.
Keep well and what can I say. It was a disastrous day.
Thanks to all who stayed behind to help me and helped get the bike loaded and dropped off at Kopu.
You guys and girls are awesome. Thanks heaps.

Sorry to hear your ankle is broken. I hope it doesn't take too long to heal.
It was good to meet you, just a pity about the circumstances.

Not good to hear mate. Had heard you had gone down but we're 'ok' and waiting for a lift back to Auckland. Hope you heal up quick, and you're right, hasnt been a good weekend at all.

Hi Beyond,
Thanks for coming on the ride yesterday.
Yeah that was one weird accident alright.
One minute you were leaning over and then you just seemed to slide (and slide and slide) then come to a stop and limp away.
Like Jono I too am surprised how you walked around so much with your foot in that condition.
Glad to know it's nothing permanent.
Heal up soon,
JSG

Glad you're OK. There's too much tragedy on this site at the moment.

Really pleased you're relatively ok. You got off very lightly this time.....now, about this little shitbox racer you're going to come get some track time on.:wait:
From the few times I have been on a track I have learned so much about my bike and my riding and it keeps getting better! It truely puts a whole new perspective on my road riding. I find I am more controlled on the road cos I know race day will soon be here...and then I can go hell for leather :headbang: and not have use all that concentration on possible hazards. And believe me Paul, you dont have to have the latest fandangled bells and whistles to have a shitload of fun! It can be done on my frayed shoestring budget. Please seriously consider it while you're recovering.

Glad you're OK. I haven't posted in the other two threads because I didn't know any of the guys and it doesn't seem right to just say `RIP' like everybody else, even though I'd never met them. But I'd just like to say here, if you don't mind, I'm really begging everybody to take extra care. I don't know what the bloody hell has happened this weekend to cause this amount of people crashing, some with very very serious circumstances, but if anything else were to happen over the next week then that would just be the limit. This weekend should be the only one of its sort in the entire of KB history.
Hope your ankle heals up nicely and still works properly.

In the weekend of carnage that has just been (there were 3 bikers killed in the Perth area, last weekend, as well), I wouldn't have thought I'd be glad to say to you - thank god it's only a broken ankle!
Glad you're OK and take it easy - ankles are a barstard...
