This thread is to arrange the 'convoy' down to the funerals.

Darryl
Wednesday 6th December.
As per Quasi's thread (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=39945). Meet at Papakura Autobahn before 8am for the ride down, for Darryl.

------------------------

Bruce
Friday 8th December, 2pm Lower Hutt.

Leave 3pm Thursday.

Meeting point 1; Hell's Pizza Kohi(summat) (Please respect residence in the area)
Meeting point 2; Bombay Autobahn ~40 mins later than time posted above.

By leaving on Thursday arvo, even tho we'll be on course to be in/near Wellington around 11-midnight, at least we'd be able to get some rest before the long day on Friday. Anyone who thinks they can ride it Friday morning, spend the whole day in morning, then the socialising afterward.. On reflection, it's just a big ask. Please take care guys. I know it's a bit earlier than originally said (6pm), but it's a long ride, and for a good mate.

Could Wellington crew who are helping out with beds for Bruce's funeral, please either supply solid directions, or would be kind enough to meet us somewhere on the way in, for those (like me!) who don't have much of a clue around that area..?

i will be traveling to lower hutt early friday morning from taupo, would be good to convoy with others

I can't provide beds but if you need anything else let me know guys. I could take time off on Thurs if you need an escort from out of town.

Just a thought. Leaving at 4am *and* attending a funeral etc would be a mission. Also consider that some people will be pretty torn up. Just a thought.

We are in Napier, but it might help if some want to break their journey. Bear in mind that no announcement has been made yet as to UncleB(ruce)'s funeral which we will be attending.

Thanks guys.

And yes, I'm well aware that there's no information on Bruce's (uncle B) funeral yet. For the sake of those wanting to attend both in wellington, I hope they don't clash. As horrible as it sounds, I hope that it will be able to coincide with the northlanders' lot still near by.

And thanks for the support welly crew. Means a lot

You could always get a lift on the back of a bike.... or someone to ride yours like SM did to wanganui with MR riding his bike.

First post updated. If we meet at Hell's, we can have a quick honorary bite to eat, then head off.

You could have two convoys? Better to make it safe than make it 'ideal'.

Tell me to butt out...its not really my business. Sorry.

Im leaving late Thursday morn/early Thursday arvo......
riding down SH1 all the way....... and staying either in Palmie North or detour off to mates at Hastings (depending on if I can get a bed to kip in)
Then Friday morning head down to Wellington. (Cheers Riffer).

Saturday heading back up to Auckland all the way up SH1.
Got to be in Whangarparoa on Sunday arvo.

So if there are any nana riders out there that want to ride with this nana rider...... happy to have your company.

tbh I'd prefer to ride down during the day, or most of it anyway. I can't do a half day (for what's on at work). But a compromise may be..? Head off around 3? Or you guys head off and the stragglers left behind can (easy goin) catch up..

And, can we pick a route thru Rotorua and Taupo? I know it's not the most exciting of routes, but to pick up fellow kber's on the way (plus I have to get HDTboy!)

Thanks heaps mate, appreciated.

What year is the bike? i may have to try it on and see if i can actually reach the ground first and see if i can ride it.. it is a really massive bike?

I dont mind blue bikes, i've sold my red leathers and only have my black gear left so i wont clash :)

5th December 2006, 11:41
Yep good point in your "case". They're all the same, but they don't have a very high seat. Certainly lower than the Duc. But no worries, we'll sort something out, maybe one of the locals with a 4 hundy would swap, or you can sit on the back

Yep, 3:30pm at Autobahn I plan for. Any route? Picking up anyone along the way? Let me know as I'll plot it on the GPS pre trip.

Won't be stuffing around but won't go warp speed either. Say around 120kmh on the clock.

bugjuice
6th December 2006, 18:36
nah, easiest route (which is unfortunately the boring one). Just wanna get there. Can sight see on the way home. Was thinking of scooting down 2 > 27 > 28 to taupo. I have to peel off to Rotoura, but will regroup in Taupo. Just stick around at paps if poss, I'll be there! Unless it gets late, then just head off.

Anyone meeting at Hells? Or should we do that when we have more time? Soz Bruce..

Why not take a more fun route?? Help stop our tyres getting flattened?

You coming alone or bringing the missus on the back??

I say don't eat pizza - not the best thing while riding.

cos i just wanna get there, like I said. The 636 is most definitely not a tourer. My arse is gonna be achey as hell by Taupo time. I just wanna be there. On the way back, I intend to be more scenic. And I'd pick another route, but I need to pick up HDTboy on the way, and nope, Kell has more sense than to spend 8 hours on the back of a bike..

Since I ride what you ride with race track firm suspension - aren't the twisties more comfortable?

Sitting at 100kmph puts things to sleep.

No worries - will go with what ever is decided.

See you tomorrow. Get a good nights sleep buggy.

yep, they are more comfortable. But a) the twisties add time, and b) the twisties are away from Rotorua. Once we pass Taupo, then it's all on.. Just prior..
