There are 4 of us leaving Aucks Fri 5am. We will not make Taupo by 7am but what is a conservative travel time for Taupo-Wellington ?

4.5 hours

how many glove checks does that factor for mate?

Last time I rode to Cowpoos place I left Akl at about 2.30pm and we got to his place about 11pm, including a stop to see some of his rellies.

I think I met him at the BP just north of Napier by about 5.30-5.45.

Akl - Welly is about 660ish km, so leaving at 5am may be a little late.

at 100k its 3.5 hours from Aucks to Taupo, and 4.5 from Taupo to Wellington DC

so about 8 hours all up id say

It's 630km's to upper hutt (You don't need to go all the way in to wellington)
But still you won't have much time to muck about on your ride down. 8 hours and you will need to be averageing 78km/hr (including stopped time) so an on open road speed of 100 - 110 will be needed, and stopping should be for essential fuel, food only. Otherwise you will be looking at 8.5 - 9hrs if you want to take it a bit easy.

Take care guys :-)

And see you all down here.
