Mate, I'm so sorry to hear that, and the worst part is your doomed to be ostracized in both countries for ever, The Aussies will always be able to detect your kiwi accent and the kiwis visa versa. May I suggest you move to the Marshal Islands upon your return and live out the rest of your sorry lonely existence as a hermit.
Again, sorry dude. :bye:

Well this has been an endless problem for me all 'round. Growing up in Oz with English parents I never quite got the speaking 'right' then of course we move here and now my family think I have a kiwi accent :o I KNOW my daughter is getting a very thuck eccent and yet my friends here still think I sound like an Aussie (or new people pick me as a pom).
I am doomed to never fit in....:crybaby:

You write with an Australian accent Hillbilly. I was never in any doubt that you were Australian.

People tend to confuse "english saffer" and aussie accents, so majority are not sure what accent I have at the moment.... Also spent 5 years in New Zealand, so that confuses them even more!

Why does everyone think that Kiwi's sound like Lynn of Tawa ... i for one have only been to oz once (loved it.. ohh bring on the flame), born and raised here and kiwi's keep asking me where I'm from in england ...

And for the record .. it's Six .. not seexx. lol

I grew up in NZ, and everyone kept saying I had an "accent". Turns out that I'd pronounce words a certain way like "water" as "Wadda" etc. Maybe it's in the Genes?? Either that or it's enviornment.

Did you know that the Aussies have regional accents too, just as they do in the UK? I pick a Queenslander a mile away! Mind you, it's only the poms that say "six". Aussies say "seeeks", yanks say "sex" and kiwis say "sux".

Develop a Scottish accent - it's really easy - fuxake I can do it and I'm a retard. Puts a swift end to all the speculation.

I think there is no operation that can make an aussie sound like a kiwi. But there is an operation that will make a kiwi sound like an aussie, its called a full lobotomy.

I had two years in Sydney as a kid (keed), and the aussie accent occasionally comes out when I'm pissed (peesed).
