View Full Version : Selling two cages

Hi all. The missus and I are downgrading from two cars to one. As neither will suit us for a variety of reasons (most notably The WOP Jnr. arriving in Jan) we are selling both and looking to purchase something else. When we approached a dealer, they would give us $2k less (their margin - I guess fair enough) for each of the cars! As such, we would be losing about $4k on the deal. Neither car is flash, both mid-90's Toyotas. One Rav and one Surf.

I have looked all over for place at web sites that do car advertising to sell these privately, but all the sites are pretty expensive (up to $100) and with no assurance of success. We will be going to Ellerslie on Sunday to try and sell them at the Carfair

Has anyone else sold a vehicle privately recently? Any advice? All we want is a reasonable price and will even accept a grand less than market at this point. Any thoughts?

Cheers!

I sell a fair few cars, and have good success with either Trademe ($29-$49 per car to sell), or the buy sell magazine (www.exchangepoint.co.nz) which is free for a non-photo ad.

trademe works well, I've bought and sold all but 2 of my vehicles on there...

TradeMe works and not only your region will see your car...

Have to agree on Tardme.. Brought and sold several bikes through them, works well.
