'The email 'comments@ihug.co.nz' is invalid - it is not in the permitted list'
was the last straw.
I drafted a note about how it is taking ages fo find www.davidcohen.co.nz - let alone dl it - so I filled out the feedback form and got that response.
Anybody suggest a good ISP that does virtual hosting?

I would say Slingshot, but they are bloody quick to turn round and blame everything on you when things go wrong. I have heard a couple of good things about Orcon, but as I have never been with them, my experience is Nil

I sent Ihug an email to say I was witholding payment until they sorted their shit out, there were 5 days in November where I had no service, but the fuckers still billed me for the full amount.
I got a personalised reply yesterday, saying that they were unable to respond by email (WTF they just did respond), and to call their call center, I am soo sick of listening to "Natures Best" for 45min+, which ironicly includes Dave Dobbyns "Loyal"

I would host it out of the country to be honest, that way your not gonna get clobered for international traffic (friigin rip-off tbh) and the rates are actually better than if its based in NZ.
Just my thoughts, tiz what I do.

I don't want much tho - I've got movies and pics parked all over the place already - and am happy with the .mac service that I use too.
30mb and virtual hosting with reliability is all I need - no e-commerce or security stuff.
name a name then?

Slingshot are utterly crap. You van only log on 40% of the time. They never reply to the help desk email or answer the 0800 helpline. Utter bollocks.
Orcon are one of the more reliable ISPs

Yea I second that (again). I chnged from a capped plan to unlimited and for some reason I was going slower. They blamed it on all number of reasons and didnt even bat an eyelid when I left them.
Customer service, Slingshots oxymoron

Check www.whizx.co.nz (http://www.whizx.co.nz)... good uptime, cheap as chips ($28/year... not month... but YEAR)..... not a HUGE amount of download, but then I don't know what you get through.
I suggest taking a look
I've been using them for a while now, and the guy running it Peter Mayes - personally attends to stuff...

thats exactly what happened to me, I used to brag about my dialup speed (always 50+)
then when Vf brought it (about the same time as unbundling was announced) it turned to crap and so did thier helpdesk, then I was dumb enough to sign to a broadband contract, and it seems I have to pay even for a service they are not providing
