What an outcome, Max and the Repsol boys getting up there.

Great comment here http://www.superbikeplanet.com/2004/Jul/040718qm.htm

Results here http://www.superbikeplanet.com/2004/Jul/040718n.htm

Full official results here http://motogp.tiscali.com/en/motogp/results/results_2655.htm?event_id=2655&subevent_id=4720&result=30689

Maximum speeds measured show the Hondas and the Ducs way up there even though its not an ultra fast track http://motogp.tiscali.com/en/motogp/results/results_2655.htm?event_id=2655&subevent_id=4720&result=30689

WT good to see the Suzukis getting a bit more competitive, though as KRJR quotes they still lack the grunt and that shows in the top speeds even though he qualified well. With ex Honda man Kanemoto now advising the team they are improving.

Yeah, it's good to see KRJr and Hopper getting their shit together. At a track like that, it's possible to qualify well without power (remember Jeremy MWilliams on the 2 stroke Proton?) but the faster bikes hold you up in the turns and out drag them down the straights. Bastards.

I had a tenner on KR too after a Bridgestone win last round and a front row start again.

Old Erv is definitely a driving force I reckon and I think they'll take a win before the season's out.

As a question is Bob Toomey still out there in GP land and is he with Suzuki?

Bob left late last year and is (or was!) back in NZ enjoying a much deserved retirement. He was in in Feb when we lent him a Harley to go to the HOG rally in Akaroa.

I could be talikng shit but I believe part of his reason was the hands off aproach addopted by all the MotoGP teams.

As in mechanics can't actually touch the motor, it's shipped to Suzuki for servicing and back afterwards.

I don't think Suzuki were receptive to Bobs comments on the fly by wire systems they were hell bent on using.

OK I've heard that stuff before too about the factories keeping a tight rein on the engines.

Damn, just watched the race and woah, it was pretty good.

Lots of crashes. That crash between melandri and abe was pretty bad. That must have definately hurt a bit.

The result definately heats up the championship a little more. Can't wait for next week.

Hows Barros with the ol' rear stepped out Mamola stylz!?! Big ups to that man. :niceone:

Barros had the new 4 pipe exhaust system on his RCV and reckoned it helped out of corners. With the mid season break about to happen soon I would say expect a bit more fireworks from the Hondas in the second half of the season. HRC will not be happy that Rossi has been so close to them.

Who knows what Erv can do to the Suzuki too, because I think KRJR has shown he still has something there if the bike is working for him.
