Well ive got a gsx250, not the fastest 250 around but with the adition of the neptune muffler, gearing it up and jetting the carbs its not too bad but just asking how to de-restrict it or just make it go that little bit faster..... any help would be apreciated.

yeah, im sure there is some way of modifying the airbox or something 2 get some power out of them. az for weight saved about 9kg from the pipe, other than that cant realy think of something the bike could go with out...

Hmm... it could go without the engine couldn't it?... that would take out alot of weight :p

mayaz well, would only loose 25hp from standard...

You could open up the airbox, drill some holes in it, or take the top off all together, that might make it breathe better. But then you might also have to rejet it again if it's running too lean.
Try putting a 400 engine in? Or a large single, like a CR500...

Try not wearing any clothing, including a helmet. That should reduce your overall laden weight by about 15kg and reduce the wind resistance.

Hmm, after that other thread with one of the CBRRRRRRRRRR riders (hurricane?) asking how he could boost power, I got the impression that it's actually pretty difficult and mostly worthless to try and get more power out of a 250.
That said, a CBR250RR is already a pretty highly strung bike, whereas your GSX is a bit more like my thumper, probably a little more laid back. So there might be some potential. I know with my bike, the early models made 26HP, whereas the same motor was producing ~30HP in later models, and about 33HP in the XR250 trail bike. I think the new cam I'm getting for my bike is from an XR, so it will be interesting to see if the extra lift and duration (that's what I heard is the difference) makes me notice a change. Changing the exhaust and rejetting... I might be wrong but I got the impression that this typically only shifted the power peak around, rather than actually increasing power, especially low down you'd probably lose some. I think on a very detuned bike like a cruiser you might see some gains though.
This very disjointed post basically says I have no idea about anything at all. So good luck!

I suppose a turbo wouldn't be too hard. Or NOS, seriously. But then you have to ask, where does that leave your brakes and suspension.
For the time, effort and cost, you are far better off selling your GSX and getting a CBR.

This might be a case of waiting and steeping up to a 600 im thinking, az for the pipe and rejetting dynod b4 and after with a 15% increase of power and that increase can be seen all through the rev range but mostly top end.. cheers..

Dunno if you should upgrade to a 6 just yet...
Buy those two old purple bikes on TM at the moment, the NS250 with a 500 single in it, and an RD350, making almost 60bhp.
Those'd be more fun, and less costly. Two bikes for under $5g, who can complain?

there is already a thread in club 250 about modifying 250's for more power. I think you'll find you've probably done as much as you can without running in to trouble. Running it without the airbox will most likely end up giving you a dead spot somewhere.
You can try velocity stacks, but again its going to be a lot of trial and error.
Your speedo may have a 180kmh restrictor, but i dont think you'd see that on a GSX unless you ran a substantially smaller rear sprocket.

Thanks ive checked out the other forum and its looking like i could be in for an upgrade eventually rather than spending more money on the gsx,

maybe you could completely replace the engine, I always thought when they first came out that they looked real neat but shortly after taking my m8s 1 for a ride I found they surely wernt as good as what I thought from all the hype, id just sell it off and buy a quicker 250 either a cbr 250 or a zxr, cant go wrong there :P just a shame you made a mistake buying the gsx in the first place, better luck next time

yeah if you want speed you really gotta get a tuned 250 like a zxr cbr rr or nsr . probably not far off what you payed for your bike so look into getting one if you dont get your full for awhile. in the meantime i reckon that 180=kg of weight is your biggest setback, so try stripping weight off it. replace your paper airfilter with some foam. good luck bra

I have a GSX250, its VERY similar to a GS500E same brakes, similar suspension very similar frame.... anyone with a mig welder and too much time on their hands could find a Gs500 motor and a shoehorn....
The 250 motor even has spacers to make it fit in that big frame...

GSX250, or GSXR250? I mean GSXR250 is what it says in your profile.

GSX250! the gsxr is the lump of crap rotting in my carport. I ride a GSX250 now, People on here bag them for being heavy but in real world (ie potholes and bad camber etc..) riding im sure the GSX is at least as quick!

Save your pennys for the next bike. To lose weight leave it by the coast and watch the frame rust away.
