I would like to propose that we have a weekly perpetuity thread:

1. Sunday [Date] - Where Did You Ride And What Did You Practise?

and

2. Weekly Training Update

Each week two posts are selected from (1) and copied into (2). The two people whose posts have been selected choose one post each the following week and the moderator copies these to the Weekly Training Update then the cycle continues.

Though I had kept BuckBuckNo1's Newbie Training Update running through this year, I would like to hand it over to the Kiwibiker Community for it now to be a somewhat symbolic reminder of what we have been taught, and what we have learnt ourselves in our riding experiences. The title of the thread will just be 'Weekly Training Update'.

The Weekly Training Update - I would recommend can only be posted to at moderator level, and the thread only reflects two posts each week. [A moderator would have to view the weekly member's choice and post it to the Weekly Training Update Thread.]

As you are all aware who read my thread, Uncle B was my mentor, I would like, if I may, have a perpetuity thread that we all participate in to be a worthwhile legacy to the Kiwibiker community.

Could a senior member please pick up the ball and run with this and create a 'vote' thread to get some feedback - or just go ahead and implement what I have proposed.

Head and Up Enjoy

I think we should have the 1. Sunday [Date] - Where Did You Ride And What Did You Practise? thread for sure.

I am not quite sure how the second one is going to work though. Sounds a little complicated?

Thanks for your feedback Lissa, here's an example:

Example:
Week One: I choose your post and the moderator will then copy it to the Weekly Training Update.
Week Two: It is your turn to choose a post from the Sunday [Date] thread and moderator copies it to the Weekly Training Update.
Week Three: The person you chose will then choose a post from the Sunday [Date]....

And so it will go on in perpetuity.

Yeah BuckBuckNo1 - the idea has merit - I suspect however that many of the posts will contain the same things as have already been mentioned within your regular Sunday "where did you go and what did you practice" threads - i.e. there is already a wealth of advice available on KB. Nothing wrong with taking a new approach to keep these points at the forefront of new riders minds though.

Have you discussed the proposal with a moderator yet?

I see where you're going with it and it's to be applauded. I can see the chain being broken too easily though - someone drops the ball and it falls to bits too easily.

Just my opinion though - and I'd be delighted if I was proven wrong.

Thanks for your comment point taken MDU.

Here a prompt strategy could be adopted:
Say ManDownUnder chooses a Sunday ride post done by McJim - MDU quotes McJim's post in the Sunday ride thread and also sends McJim a PM eg.'Great ride and practise, I have selected you to do next weeks Sunday Ride & Practise post choice.'

Here the Moderator will know to monitor by each say Monday night if a the person selected to chose a post has done so. If s/he hasn't then moderator could chose a post from the Sunday Ride/Practise and notify the person by PM they are next weeks selector.

So two measures: one a PM is sent to the next person, secondly the moderator is fail-safe backup.

Remember the Weekly Training Update ultimately can only be posted to by the moderator. Over time the Weekly Training Update will build at only two posts a week and when deciding to make a selection out of the Sunday Ride/Practise thread then the library of Weekly Training Updates will be fairly small initially and could be examined by the individual before they make their Sunday Ride/Practise selection.

Thanks McJim for your comment. A solution may be to then perhaps periodically review into sections eg. Emergency Braking, Counter Steering etc etc. Or indeed have some sections preset as sub forum within the Week Training Update [only accessable by moderator in which to post.]

The chain hopefully will be retained and some form of 'disclosure' can be made to the Sunday Ride/Practise thread that posting to this thread is subject to merit selection of entries to go to Weekly Training Udate thread.

The moderator could also make announcement statement to each Sunday [Date] Ride Where Did You Go What Did You Practise? 'The Selectors for the week are.[name]....and..[name].'

Over a few weeks this could sink or swim...but I would like the Kiwibiker community to think about the legacy that had lead to its creation. And so may we stay on top of the water.

Have passed PM to moderators, Hitcher and Joni.

Heads Up and Enjoy

An interesting concept, if contributor interest can be maintained. It also sounds like potentially quite a bit of work for a mod or mods.

Personally I am more attracted to the Wiki idea advanced by Jim2.

Point taken Hitcher, the Wiki idea is good, I just had a look at Jim2's recent post

As far as my proposal give me exclusive post only access to a Weekly Training Update and I will look after it. I will the raise a Sunday [Date] Where Did You Ride and What Did You Practise each week and get the ball rolling.

In the meantime I have amended my Newbie Training Update [NTU] and will post two entries from the Sunday ride thread to the NTU ;
