Since I rashly promised to shout MikeL and Zed their pints of choice should the Religious Ravings thread reach its millennium, I must now hold good and deliver. I may even be persuaded to go a round of scotch eggs. (Mmmmm... scotch eggs...)
I will be performing my penance at 12pm sharp on the above date at Galbraiths Alehouse in Mt Eden Rd:
http://www.alehouse.co.nz/
Duckman gets an extremely dishonourable mention for being so crass as to run the thread up to the thousandth post without managing to say anything worthwhile whatsoever. Therefore he will be required to turn up.
Hopefully a few of the rest of y'all will have a spare hour or two to join us. Post if you can make it so we'll know who to look out for.

Well, *I* will be. Even if nobody else turns up I'm going to bring a book and sit in the corner with my feet up drinking B&Ts until 2:30 or so.
I might even wear my KB T-shirt.

Can't say I've ever had them, but I just looked up the recipe and they sound scrumptious! :gob:

Galbraiths make them just like me Mum used to.
The bangers and mash with mushy peas ain't too bad either.
I'm salivating already.

Getting out of bed before 1400 is 'early'? Don't you have pintles to grease, or something? :bleh:

Since we do not get the pleasure of your company on the KB rides due to your busy life style, I'd be real keen to make it there for a pint.
I'll try to come around but I just might not make it due to work and race prep for Saturday.
I'll see...

(a) It's more a "lack of a life" style.
(b) Even if I *did* get to KB rides, you'd have the pleasure of my company for about 15 seconds in your mirrors, and then for another 15 seconds after I arrived at the destination just before you turn around to go home again...

Yea well, everyone who's gunna have kids are going to go through the same thing. You and the Mrs obviously have other things to enjoy and share your lives with (the kids).

All this "fast" talk is just a bit over rated. Its all about riding your own ride and having fun, topped off with a nice yarn in the stops. Paces vary all the time and has never really become an issue on the KB rides :niceone:
...(b) Even if I *did* get to KB rides, you'd have the pleasure of my company for about 15 seconds in your mirrors, and then for another 15 seconds after I arrived at the destination just before you turn around to go home again...It's not really like that JR. The front group will stop every 15-20 mins for the rear guard/s to catch up, and if you can average 100kmph on your 150cc then you'll only be 1 minute or so behind!
No more excuses please :baby: We'll count on your presence on the next organised ride.

As will I :) make us all easy to find. If you'll be there till 2:30 it'll definitely make it worthwhile me coming then huh.....Make sure you stay otherwise I'm going to be disappointed and it'll make my decision not to start work fri afternoon such a waste of time... Now that'll put the pressure on ya...:P

Seriously, though, MR was right. You see, Mrs Random isn't really 'into' bikes, and we have a standing arrangement that I don't take chunks out of our weekends to go for rides, and she doesn't give me any hassle about the perceived risks involved in using it to commute all year round, etc.
So until the kids have reached a stage where she doesn't need to get through each week of insanity solely by looking forward to two days where she *doesn't* have to do *any* looking-after of a pair of screaming toddlers, say in about three years' time, my riding will mostly be commuting.
But, hey, we all make sacrifices for the greater good.
Pop a wheelie for me next time you're down SH22...

Fair enuf then, I can respect that. My Mrs has been doing some accounting papers this year and spends time studying on Saturdays so I get to going riding sometimes (also, no kids yet). It will not always be this way so I'm taking advantage of the liberty while it lasts! I'm loving the KB rides.

I can actually make this one... though it might end up costing me some $$ :( anyone willing to shout a poor student some garlic bread? ooo... just had a thought... maybe I can claim it on my student loan along with the registration for the bike (didnt think they'd let me get away with that one :msn-wink: ) and the petrol costs to get there...

Also...
As per a very good suggestion from sAsLEX, I've burned a bunch of CDs with the MotoGP race coverage in WMV format.
CD1: Le Mans/Mugello
CD2: Catalunya/Assen
CD3: Rio/Germany
I've made five copies of each and will bring them all along on Friday, so there should be plenty of GP goodness to go around for anyone without broadband.

Don't forget it's today, guys.
I've taken the afternoon off and have to get away, unfortunately, so I'll only at Galbraiths until 1pm or so.

Just got back to the office - had to make a detour to my favourite sushi bar for a quick snack to soak up the alcohol. Mental note to self: stick to one pint of Bitter and Twisted in future in order to avoid pointed comments from co-workers (still not sure if it was the breath or the stagger...)
Very enjoyable time. Thanks to JR for the pint (and very pleased to meet you in person after all this time; your quick wit and perceptive comments fulfilled my expectations; looking forward to riding with you some time, although from what you say probably not weekends! Take heart: the "difficult years" will not last forever - it just seems that way...)
Apologies to Maarten for the harangue on the aesthetic and moral aspects of whaling. I don't know what I was saying... But don't forget to PM me about the Costa Rica connexion...
Good to see so many guys there. We should make this a regular occasion. (As long as I get there before large groups of voracious senior citizens... A 45 minute wait for my Ploughmans was over the top.)
Now how about some female participation next time...?
It was good to meet some more of you face to face today, and thanks to Mr Random for your contribution towards my dying thirst! Was a beaut day for a ride into town and back to work again...:weep:

I agree on the regular occasion deal, and also on the female participation deal.... :D Tho there arent that many females on KB anyway, so I dont expect we'll see any in the near future....Now there's a challenge for ya!

Ta. We'll see how we go. I do hope to get along for some two-wheeled tagalonging sometime.

*Aesthetic*? I feel a joke about hot pink harpoons coming on but I'm not sure it would hit the mark.

Yes. Top idea.

Where *are* the central-ish Auckland KB girls? Can't think of any off top of head.
If MadDuck takes an afternoon off to come down and kick some Holeshot arse, I think she would make an excellent guest of honour for another lunch.

Well I seriously thought about skulking down there at 11.30 after a rather crappy day and week. Not sure the boss would have been too impressed if I said - off to lunch see you tomorrow!
Next time I better come along though and make sure you lads behave yourselves - or at least point out the single chicks in the bar as it appears you need some help in that department :shifty:
