Hello all, just a quick update to let thoses know who are interested that i now have my license, ye-har..did basic training and handling skills test on sat in rain, thunder, lightning ,and hail.......i had to laugh at myself there were three of us tootling round the car park doing our test pouring down with rain......it was till fun, sat scratchie test yesterday, and due to lack of time yesterday didnt get to ride, so i was up at 6am to beat the traffic and did a 50km round trip, round to glenbrook , down to kariotahi beach and home, was great fun, not too much traffic at all and im sure that my bright yellow vest and L plate helped to keep cars at bay.............have just been reading another thread with lots of great advice coming thru, i see i should be practising not just going for it....oops.:innocent:

so if there is anyone heading manakau head way and can handle me following along at newbie gn speed with a bright vest please pm me. cheers
take care all.:sunny:

Now If you want some advice and you haven't yet seen this thread, put aside some time (about 2 hours) and go through it.
It is the ultimate in Newbee 'how to do it'.

Congrats now get out there and get some hours under your belt

yep was out again today , headed up the pennisula , but only got as far as pollock before the wind really started making me nervous, very blowy up there today, so turned off and did some ticky touring around roads ive not been been before and concentrating on the looking way ahead around the corner instead of just in front of me, called in to see a friend who gave me some advice on hill stops etc and some other info about my bike so all in all a good bike day.... think ill get up early in the morning again to beat traffic and practise parking in town etc whilst no one is watching, and quick stops etc.

As you are a resident on the Peninsula, you will no doubt get used to riding in the wind

Good to see you getting those K's up - the more of those under your belt, the better you get :)

Im guessing you got your bike license back in the days when you only had to answer 5 oral questions and go for a quick ride with the cop ( wish id done mine back then, alot simpler) anyway these days you have to sit a multi choice paper of questions, but they are like a scratch n win ticket:yes:
