hey everyone! hows it!
I'm new and new to the biking world! been reading up and trying to learn as much as possible :) HEAPS of informative information across the site, makes things quick 'n' easy to pickup on.
I come from a family who think motorbikes literally is death, my older brother rebelled and took off overseas to ride around Europe on a GSXR600 woohoo! Comes back to New Zealand gloating how great it was!
Sitting my "Motorcycle Basic Handling Skills Course" this Sunday, then hopefully my theory the Monday!
Don't have a bike and don't have gear! :( YET!
Interested in GPX/CBR/GSX/FZR/ZXR/ZZR 250s - going to check out some more bike stores to get more understanding on the bikes, if i come across something i really like I'll get it! but I'm looking for a good deal so I'd say a month or so before I'll have a bike :(
About the gear! looking to make sure I'm as safe as possible on the bike, I'll be going shopping in the next few days, any recommendations on helmets/gear etc..? my brother basically said "your helmet should cost how much you think your heads worth so if you think its worth $50 spend $50 " :@ any good shops :D?
so yeaaaah, I'm 21, 5ft11, 70kgs, residing in howick/pakuranga
hello :D

Welcome, sounds like you doing the good thing and making haste slowly! As for your first ride, take your time - sit on them, kick their tyres, etc. The right bike will come along soon enough!
Check out motomail outlet in Kingsland for some good gear at budget prices!

"your helmet should cost how much you think your heads worth so if you think its worth $50 spend $50 "
hmm that theory didnt work with my head.............out of an entire shop only one helmet fit me and that was at a special price of $140 :)
When I started out I got all my gear from Motomail Outlet Shop, although the boots I got at a special price from there was the normal price at another store. Overall I saved a bundle and got extremely good gear.
Welcome to the site...............and watch out when following GIJoe on the 250 rides as he gets hit in the back of the head by ducks

Got my gear three years ago, and my wife's recently, from Cyclespot in Takapuna @ $599 for top to toe. R-Jays gear and good stuff, but check with QuasiMoto for very good deals on very nice gear! He's got an Auck agent now, too. I'd like to support a KB'r and will check with him first for any more gear.

Welcome to the site. One word of advice, which was said to me. Don't feel like you need to look 'cool' on your first bike, Cause you might end up crashing it and then it wont look cool anymore.
Good luck with your bike searching :)
All the best

Welcome. I am biased, and love the Yamaha's, so I'll always say FZR, because I owned a couple ( 400 and 1000), and they were exceptional bikes to ride.
