is that the place that was under Mt Eden then split off on it's own?

Yeah... Mt Eden used to recommend using them (City dismantlers) when thier workshop was backlogged... also recommended them for used parts...

Not too bad a place either... they did all the work on my ZXR that Jono and myself couldn't do... They even heated my side stand and bent is so my bike wasn't so upright...

Mt Eden Motorcycles started out as bike wreckers in the late '70's,across the road next to the archway.Mike and Chris have turned it into a bike shop proper, and the wrecking side gradualy downplayed, then booted out.

I will definatly have to go and have a look....shit,just before Xmas....could be nasty.

Pity. I used to go there to get bits for my bike. Even got them to change my fork oil for me too. Good guys in my books.

I have called them a few times looking for parts and never had good service, not even close.
I went in one time to try to find bits and I don't know who served me, but he was a rude prick, he sounded sick but thats not my problem, if your too sick to do your job, get some one to cover or close the shop. I was polite to him but he did not return the courtesy.

I have herd from many people that they are good, maybe they just don't like me.

Yeah,it's the herd mentality, some flock to the idea.

Good sevice from a wrecker to me is - ''they are down the back there, see what you can find....''.Choice,it's called impulse buying....

Sounds like you were dealing with Andrew... if he had a south african accent it was Ricky...

I called them up a few times to query prices for ZXR parts and spoke with Andrew, who I found very rude and inpatient at first... but thats just his character I assume, he's always off-ish even when he's being nice (if that makes sense).

They helped me out a lot, exspecially Ricky. Ricky came and picked up my bike after Jono and I had it up and running... he did the fork oil and seal change for me... also did my brake disc's and pads... and my compliance and rego. When Ricky left they got very busy with only Andrew doing the front desk, servicing and everything all on his own...

I called up and spoke to Andrew yesterday about any ZXR parts I needed that he may have on sale... he was glad to hear that Frosty posted this up for him, and he didn't seem very phased that they were closing down, even mentioned starting his own business soon... I told him that when he does open his own shop or whatever, that I'm keen to do any part time work (evenings and weekends) to gain up my own bike experience... he said if they needed any part time help he'd give me a call... but I doubt he will.. but if you don't ask you don't get anything I suppose :)

So yeah... my point is... the guys there do come across at first as unfriendly and the such... but really these are the type of guys who are usually behind the scenes doing the work not liasing with the customers, thats not thier strong point... but I can't fault the work they've done for me.

I would use Andrew or Ricky again in the future

must have been Andrew then. I know Ricky, he's a top bloke.
I gave up fixing my NC30 and admited defeat, gave Ricky a call, dropped it off at his house and 4 days later calls me up, "its ready bro". Picked it up on Wednesday night, it is f%%king purring like a kitten on crack now. Can't wait to get it on the track finally.

Anyone know their opening hours for the weekend ?
Tried a Email parts request but it bounced back.

Unless someone has an old monoshock out there, preferred shaft size 14/15mm. :shifty:

That's how it was at Mt Eden......Wander around all you want and find cool things to buy like Kawasaki H2 bits and a 1976 RM125S DG radial head for $15,might have been $25 but who cares when you find Gold :woohoo:

I bet there are few places like that now.

Ok I have been in there and scored a box full of VIRAGO parts.
Only rear wheel ($100) and a slightly damaged engine ($350)of a VIRAGO still there.

There are complete bikes there being sold off.....
even a couple of street magic's....

Heaps of bike parts still there...... fuel tanks...... forks you name it it is there.
Everything for each type of bike is in boxes easily labeled.

Go and have a look.....

I checked out the Kawa Eliminator..... she is a tidy wee machine.....
