A thief who reputedly made ‘more than £100,000 a month’ by selling stolen motorcycle parts on EBay has been sent to prison.

Bradley Dimech, 34, was the head of an organised gang who would steal motorcycles, usually from the City of London, then sell the parts on to unsuspecting customers via the internet auction site.

However, Dimech was caught out when two bikers suspected that a part on the site came from his bike. He got a friend to bid for it, then met with Dimech in a supermarket car park. The biker recognised the part and tipped off police, who found eleven Sat-Nav systems when they raided Dimech’s flat in Romford – although only one of them could definitely be confirmed as stolen.

Sentencing at Snaresbrook Crown Court, Dimech was described as being “known as someone able to move on stolen parts of bikes”. He was sentenced to prison for three years.
