David Jefferies was killed at the TT.
He lost traction on another rider's oil in practice. Jefferies, 30, crashed at high speed near Crosby.
Jim Moodie was also injured when he hit some wreckage.
My thoughts go to his family and friends, he was an amazing rider!!!

no way, this is bad news. that guy was definitely one of the best riders in the world. very sad news indeed. dam he was the man on his r1 and then on the gsxr1thou downtrowing everyone who had come before him.

Yes, really sad news. Gone is a great racer, nice bloke, and a champion for bigger blokes in top class motorbike racing.

It is with regret that the organisers of the Isle of Man TT Races, the Auto-Cycle Union, announce that David Jefferies, of Baildon in West Yorkshire, who crashed on the second lap of this afternoon's practice session, received injuries, which proved fatal.

Thirty-year-old Jefferies was involved in an incident at Crosby
The red flag was displayed at the Grandstand and all riders finishing their first laps were brought back into the paddock. Those who had already embarked on their second lap were halted at Glen Vine.
Jefferies was the outright lap record holder at the TT and had lapped at 125mph on his first lap today riding his 1000cc Temple Auto Salvage GSXR Suzuki

 

Jim Moodie has undergone a medical examination for minor injuries sustained during Thursday afternoon’s TT practice.
Moodie was taken to Douglas hospital on the Isle of Man after becoming entangled in telephone lines that were strewn across the ultra-fast Crosby section of the circuit – debris from a crash that had occurred moments before he reached the same section of road.
Moodie received abrasions to his neck and throat when the cable wrapped around his neck as he swerved to avoid other obstacles. Fortunately he was able to stop his bike in time to avoid serious injury.
While his injuries were not serious, doctors kept the Triumph ValMoto rider under observation for some time to be sure that his airways were not likely to constrict. http://www.realroadracing.com/index.shtml

Sad indeed. He was my favourite rider on the favourite race ever in the world.
At least he died doing something he truly loved.
