GLENORCHY RALLY2007
12-13th January Queenstown

Whos keen :scooter:
An awesome ride to a great wee rally at the mouth of the Dart river, I'm in will head to Queenstown Friday night couple a beers decent feed then on to the rally sat morn.

Now Friday night accomadation is filling up fast if not already full, it would be good if the group was at the same place but its looking like we may be split up.

Regester interest people here or on the Calendar, its a big ride but a goodie :Punk:
http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/calendar.php?do=getinfo&ea=attend&e=1067

Where do ya's accomadate at? Do ya group book, or it left to the individuals? Camping or pre constructed building?

Looking forward to the Christmas mumbo jumbo to be over and for 2007 to begin. I think I am wishing the days away for the excuse to ride to rally's in the new year.

Ask Thunder, he is trying a few places, as those I rang are booked out due to dumb arse 7's
We try and all fit into the same place but this year we may have to split up, I just secured the last unit at the motor camp.

Perhaps those that want to hang out Fri night post here so as we get an idea of numbers.

Doubt I'll be going to this one but if there's someone needing a bed for the night and you want to ride up SH 8 on Sat morning then give me a buzz. Its about 2.5hrs car drive to Queenstown from here, quite a bit less on a bike, and its a nice ride. We're about halfway between Milton and lawrence.

It's nice, but the road condition is patchy. There's a lot of bare tar, inevitably in just the wrong place, and in the wet that just ain't no fun unless you've got serious skill.

The road out from Wanaka past Glendhu to Treble Cone is better, IMHO. Better scenery, better condition, just as twisty. And you have to turn round and come back, too.

I'll have to get up past Hawea some time -- I remember the road to Haast was pretty spectacular, barring astronomical gas prices.

if I can't make it down for Glenorchy.. can someone please do that for me again...

Yeah, I might take the missus up that way on our little escape from the kids come New Year. Maybe on to Te Anau for a pie.

HEY DUDES,

This was my first rally last year, so am well an truly up for this one.

Scumdog will bear witness to my drunkeness on the Friday night, didnt know I was going to meet some bikers on the Friday and had just come away from BRAZZ after the normal Friday night piss up after work do, so was 3 sheets to the wind. Could hardly string 2 words together, although I think I had a good go.

Met up with them the following night at the rally, and was more than a little hazy on who these new geezers were, arrrr the demon drink and amnesia, they go so well together.

Its a wickedly beautiful ride there, certainly a breathtaker and is kinda my favourite place in the world (at the moement!)

Whats great about my memories form teh first one, si thats where I met the likes of Rashika, Dangerous, Senisble Shagging Teddy Bear, Scumdog, Mike from CChurch and a few of the others.

Anyway, sod staying in a hostel, Im camping out, more fun cheaper which leavees money for BEEEEEEEER.

Ab Fab Rally, all who can make it, you are in for a great time.

'ENJOY, ENJOY, COZ LIFE'S A TOY"

HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL. X:rockon:  :Punk: :done:

I thinking the same, the camping gear is on the bike anyway why not use it it????

Hopefully meeting Scumdog at Beaumont on the friday... can ride up with you if you want on the friday, meet scumdog, and then the rest of the crowd at cromwell... let me know...

Will be playing it by ear anyway.

(not that I actually drink... actually I don't :gob: have better things to spend my hard earned cash on... ie bike :-) )

Two options then, 1st camp at the camping ground and spend the night in QT with us... or 2nd head on to the rally site, if so we try and camp...

After paying at the gate, drop down to the right (off the track), head down towards the road, theres a flat area near a power pole either there or just below it on another flat spot.
Thats were we will be Sat morn anyway.

HEY before heading to the rally site Sat morn, anyone up for a race on the ludge?

option 3 is to see if my sister has any spear beds at the Chalet Queenstown (http://www.chalet.co.nz/index.html) but the chances are slim she is usually booked solid this time of the year. So camping somewhere is probably more the option I will have to go with

Got to admit a Friday night in Q'town sounds good (it WAS good last year!) but if no place to stay might just cruise on up to rally site and pitch the tent. (why do you always 'pitch' a tent?).

Will meet up with all those I said I will on previous posts.

I have just got a night at the Queenstown Top 10 Holiday Park "Creeksyde" only about a 400mtr stumble to the centre of QT. I was hoping to get a twin share cabin with 2 single beds, but the following was all that was aviliable.

Cabin: Lodge Room, sleeps 1-2 people, Double Bed, crockery,
cutlery & linen supplied, towels available for hire, communal facilities
under same roof. NZ$57 per night

So if anyone gets stuck for a place to bed down, and you can asure me that you do not "man hug", then there is room. ha ha, I am a married man so there would not be any inappropriate touching!!!!!!!!

Oh yeah I would be in for a luge, never done that b4 but looks like awesome fun.

Mr S were did that post go of yours? you going or what?

The two of us are going. We'll ride down with everybody on the Friday till Q'town then we'll go to the rally site and set up Camp KB (at the same place as last year). On the Saturday we'll probably go for a ride (Tony's Trail and Gwendas Track), have lunch at the Glenorchy pub then head back to the site. Shit! That sounds too well planned, sorry.

I could definitely do with a bit more riding. Will have to get some more leave from work though. Let you know as soon as it is sorted. This time I'm going to win the bloody rat bike event instead of having to enter someone else's bike!

Hey hey... it'll be my bike this year. I won't have to stop every 5 mins to tighten loose nuts like I did last year. And it will most definitely win the rat bike award - the bike is getting more and more duct tape by the day (and it necessary to hold it together!) Hey dudes,

Just to let you know, I have pre-booked my tent site at Queenstown Lakeview Holiday Camp, very central to town and excellent facilities, the showers will blow you all the way to Glenorchy, and before you start with the smutty talk, the power shower is what blows you to Glenorchy. Anyway, back to the subject in hand! Telephone number for the site is 442 7252, I did try to read all the pages, but started to squeeze out the zzzz's so dont know if you guys have prebooked anything. I intend to go out and have loads to drink, a fine meal and a bop in a club, then hit the sack. Whose up for that, and did I mention that 2007 is absolutely fantastic. My luck number is 7, so yeeeeeeeeeeee haaaaaaaaaaaaaar.

Cant wiat to rock my boots with the rest of you KB's and meet some more dudes. Am spring cleaning my Bonny tom morning, as he (TEX) hasn't been cleaned since Mount Cook. sob sob, so thats tommorow morning sorted. 4 more weeks, then I shall be living back in Queenstown, so lots of mountain biking, racing biking and hiking to come..............I have so missed that, and what a fab town too.

See you guys there. 1 week to go, in fac this precise time in a bit, Friday nights hangover should be on te way out and I'll be drinking my way to a new heady height.

PS Night Hawk or whatever, the KB's party on, so dust off yer platforms and press those flares and come and boogy on with us.

hold on i will be back with a plan :scooter:

I am working Friday so will have to flag the Cromwell thing. I probaly will be busy Friday night too - looking at the way my week is lining up for work so will have to content myself with being broken into rally's gently.

And although I have been riding bikes a few years have never ridden with a group and don't know what bad habits I have picked up so looking for a nice group of KBers to break me in gently. :scooter:
