some of you may have heard that i have been having trouble with a slipping clutch at 7000+rpm.
this relates when the turbo is nearing it's peak.

so off with the cover, and pulled the plates off for inspection..
i have inquired on the cost of a new clutch............ still waiting....

so there i was, oil drained ( needed a change anyway)
clutch cover off....
that was a bit of a strugle, i found i had to remove the cable....lol

cover off... looks the same but a bit bigger than the dt100's...

i then noticed that the top plate was very shineny... so i removed the whole lot then
i removed the shine, dulled the plates,
why not a new one? well i will see if that works first, as next year the bike is getting shipped off to the states...

putting it back together was easy right?..... errrrr, ummmm
yes?.. well it would have been IF i had checked that the outer plate was in the right place...
i put the cover back on, filled up the oil, check the leaver.... there was the misstake, i shouldhave checked BEFORE i put the oil in....
so drained the new oil, pulled cover back off... why won't it work?... take the springs off,...wooops heheheheh. ummmm...
now if you put the plate on properly the springs work better.. and the leaver works.............
but now after all that, the cable frazes..
so new one orded, be here tuesday...

so can i test to see if this works.... you bet !!!
in the morning, may just go and wake up U4ea for morning coffee.....:Punk:

Great story !!!!

Clutches are generally a nightmare in my experience. ALWAYS end up losing something !!

I'm not looking forward to having to do mine. Clutches are about my least favourite bits of the motor, except maybe doing the shims...

I did strip and rebuild my forks though as I blew a fork seal last Friday and the WOF is due tomorrow.

I'd mcuh rather do a clutch than forks. In fact I'd rate clutches (wet, normal motorcycle ones, not bloody BMWs) as one of the less stressful fix ups. At least its almost impossible to reassemble them wrongly.

Well I can't help you with the putting it together part. But what I've done in the past to stop the clutch slipping is put washers behind the clutch springs to give them a bit more tension. This was enough to stop the clutch slipping :) And much cheaper than buying new parts. Obviously this won't help if the clutch is totally stuffed but may be worth a shot.

I forgot to put a small metal ring that does nothing more than keep the spring away from the o-ring on the filter last night. Is in there now. I think next time I'll be slightly less drunk lol.
