WTD: 1 pce race leathers

It's about time I got some new leathers.

If you are or if anyone that you know of is selling a good quality 1 piece race suit for a good price, please let me know.

I am interested in New Zealand made or Spidi, Spool, Spyke, Dainese, Alpinestars or similar suits...

I am 5'8 and weigh 66-68 KGs

I think only the top racers get their suits made just for them cause they can spend the $$$$ with the help of sponcers...

BTW, I am looking for second hand suit so I don't see how bulk purchase would work.

If I can't find one here, I'll be importing a new one. Its that brand that they use in MotoGP as well, I forget the name... You know the one that has the angry eyes looking in one direction as a logo.

Mate save your coin and check out MIR leathers. The imorters are forbesanddavies.co.nz but they will not sell direct to the public, but you can find out who their distributers are. I have had an off wearing them and they held up well. Cheap too. About $1000 for a full one piece suit c/w knee sliders and armour. Go check them out

Yeah MR you can check out Motomail, they have Spidi, Alpinestars and Spool..... Forbes and Davies have Nazran (which i think are good considering i have had both low speed and high speed crashes in them) which are cheap and MIR's like Jimbo's which are bloody nice...... Colemans is a F & D dealer..... Other than that it will have to be Trade Me or T & E......

I've gotta tell you though dude a lot of good looking suits are actually total shite.
There are a few things to check for in a race suit
double stitching,double even triple layers of leather on impact/wear points,padding/armour on shoulders/knees
A good suit will fit you like a glove,and move with your body.
A decent race suit will make the difference between racing again that day or not.

Mitchell leathers in Chch used to do a tailor made 1 pc suit for around $1100
thats was about a year ago,good quality work,although sometimes it takes a while for them to be done.

I've seen quite a few sets of his work and think they're as good as anything else I've seen.

I used to have a Scarlatti set (until i put on weight :-(
Very well made - he is now out in Glass Road in Hillsborough when I inquired a couple of years back. Was listed under The hughes design company (under T)
Price for a new set was aroudn $1300+ then - made to measure. I ended up with an AGV set for $800. If I had the money, I would have gone tailor mades again, and would prefer it to a set of Dainese at $2k.

Now I don't remember Andrew on a Honda at Suzuka but he was the USA Formula Xtreme champion on an Erion Fireblade back in 1997. He rode a Fireblade that summer back in NZ too without great success and I don't think he's ridden too many Hondas since then.
