Just found that, looks in ok condition and the way the prices are going these days it seems quite cheap. Needs alittle work but it would still be alot cheaper than a 1990 model going for $6000.

Hmmm.. will definitely have to show my brother that one.

Chain looks a bit shagged, but that could just be the angle the photo's on.

For some bizarre reason, the single R models seem to be about $1.5-2000 cheaper than the RR. It's not like there are huge differences between the models.

What is the difference? I've heard little snatches of information, like brakes etc, but surely it must be more than that to warrent a new model designation? What benefit would Honda have made with such a small change between two models?

Damn that's a good price though, I'd worry if the engine is about to shag itself or something.

You could be right Xerxesdaphat, there might be some problems that are hard to pick up on with out riding it for some distance.

I think the majour differences are brakes, the R model have one and the RR having twin...also the R is slightly de-tuned isnt it?

the MC19 came out with slightly more HP than the MC22, the MC19 only has a single front disc brake in comparison to the MC22s double, hence the MC22 has arguably better braking. The MC22 is noticabley faster than the MC19 in comparison with 250ccs. there is slight cosmetic difference too.

HP is meant to be the same, but I've ridden MC22's heaps, and the power delivery is different, less mid range, but more top end, although that could all just be in the carb tune.

The brakes on the MC22 are WAY better. I think the MC19 has a skinnier rear wheel. The suspension and steering geometry's are very different. The MC19 definitely feels more like a commuter, and the MC22 feels more like a track bike.

Let's put it this way, I ride my MC22's pretty well. My mate got an MC19, and he wanted me to commute for a day on it to find out what I thought, and if it needed anything doing, I nearly made it all the way home before I lost the rear end on a left hander that I do noticeably faster on my MC22. A bit embarrassing, part of me sliding it out can be attributed to the very dissappointing Pirelli Sport Demons not being properly broken in, but I've just lost all confidence in the MC19.

The only things the same on the bike are the engine, and the headlights and taillights.

The things that are definitely different, are:
The wheels
The brakes
The suspension
The chassis
The Swingarm
The carbs
And a whole lot of other things. The MC22 was a big step up in my opinion.

I'll put it another way. Id rather have an mc22 than a ZXR250c, but I'd rather have a ZXR250c than an mc19.

Heya J,

What's wrong with the sport demons?? Guys in post classics race on them - and their times aren't that far off your 250 times (at Puke). Perhaps you were just tired that day when you rode the MC19 - from the 10 jobs you do and uni and working on your bike, etc, etc, etc.........

Yes, the MC19 is more commuter set up - but they don't do that bad on the track either as Duckaddict demonstrates.

Given riders of equal skills a MC19 will keep a MC22 within a few bike lengths, so in the real world either one will do.

PS: How's the 600 doing? How many times you lapping people per race session??

why spend $700 and not spend the money for the tyre and even 3 months rego there is something more wrong here because for another $300 he could get another grand i think

If i remember correctly you had a chance to have and MC22 but liked the styling of the ZXR250c a bit better and quite frankly i agree.

Also vtec is right on all those points, Just to add to his post, the MC19 probably feels a bit more like a commuter and a bit more upright due to the fact that in the MC22 the engine is mounted considerably lower giving the bike better handling characteristics and a much more sporty feel.

The MC19 is a great bike also tho, bulletproof motors!! (until R6_kid gets on one).

steady on! Haha, i ran my ZXR to town without much water in the radiator and it didnt overheat or fry itself...

hurricane_r has got an mc22 engine in his MC19, he's also changed the placement of the controls to be lower down and more aggressive, he was doing 1.18's at Pukekohe on Sport Daemons, and i reckon he could go faster with better tyres (and better brakes)

Any of the ZXR/CBR/FZR breed have enough power (generally the same amount) it's just the way that each bike lays it down that changes how you have to ride it and thus what it is better suited to.

That CBR isnt too badly priced, i sold my 89 ZXR for $3750 with a new paint job, tyres etc... but it had higher km's, so if you add it up by the time that MC19 has been tidied up to mint condition you'd still have yourself a pretty fair deal by todays prices.

That's what I said.....it is Duckaddict at turn 7 at Taupo.
Has love made you blind already???:dodge:

By the way - 1:18's on a MC19 means you should have a serious go at Streetstock racing.
