Firestormer PM'd me to ask about the storm cover I use on my Ventura bags. I have the silver coloured cover made by Ventura to go over the bags and I use it when it pisses down and I am out on the road. Because it pisses down at the time and not many cameras are being used, looking through my collection I have only this photo of the bike with the cover over the bags. I bought the cover at the same time I bought the bags from Sawyers way back when I bought the bike new in 1994. I'm not sure if they still make them but the cover is fantastic and keeps the bags under nice and dry. The bags if left in the rain do absorb water into the material and are apt to leak through the stitching and zips.

So the cover is highly recommended if you can still buy them. I just leave mine in the bottom of my bag so it is with the bike all the time just in case.

Photo is a scan from a print so not so flash as if it was a digital picture. You can't seem to attach photos to PM's so I've started this thread for the purpose of showing the cover.

You can still get them. I have a black one for my Ventura Rally Bag and you're dead right Merv, they work really well.

Mine uses D-Rings and a strap to secure the cover around the bag as well as elasticated hems at the sides.

I bought my Ventura bag from tardme and it came with a storm cover. (Silver)
It has a drawstring around the bottom. I have to be careful to tuck the front edge under something as it rises with the wind under it at speed. It's ok if I have my tent in front of the rack. Keeps the rain out, though.
