Its another scam, same as the GSXR1000 last week
That bike would be worth a bloody fortune, with a reserve reached at $1000.00,Yeah right!!

Sigh. It's a rort. I just reported it. "Same dude who has been running a lot of these scams I think . Escrow delivery, traffic in the picture is driving on the right hand side of the road (ie bike is in USA), silly cheap price, very short auction, lots of unanswered questions, same spiel. "

This bizo of fake auctions is becoming a proper pain.

From TradeMe,

Dear Squeak the Rat

Thanks for contacting us.

In this case I can see that this members account was 'phished' which means a
scammer effectively hijacked the account to run scam auctions and attempt to
defraud members. The actual account holder has nothing to do with that
particular listing, and will be able to continue trading once we can secure
their account.

We are doing everything possible to try and prevent phishing on the site, thank
you for drawing this to our attention.

I am sorry for any inconvenience that this may have caused.

If you have any further questions or if I can be of any further help please do
not hesitate to contact me.

Regards,

Ah. That explains why the account looked reasonable.

How is this kind of scam ever going to work? Is someone really gonna deposit some money before they have even seen the bike?

Ixion
18th December 2006, 14:49
And an R1. Mr Phisher has been busy. Both reported. I wish we could find who the bastige is.

Half tempted to put in a way big bid, then tell him to go stuff himself. But its not worth the hassle.

Yes, some may. Or the other trick is they tell you that the money needs to be lodged in escrow "for your protection". But there are these fees, see. Then once you've coughed up a thou or so for "fees" they tell you the deal's gone bad, and you can have your money back. Less fees, freight etc.

But escrow is a Yank thing , they think it makes the buyer safe. Which is does if the escrow company is legitimate. But anyone can start an escrow company.

Next time we see one I say we just bid 10,000 on it, then ignore emails, or try phish the phisherman, - "I need $400 to start an escrow account, convert $NZ to $US, get a quote from UPS, get my stockbroker to free up some capital" etc.
