Since you have a mint road bike, I would think twice about wearing them. The sparks from them tend to ruin the paint job on the bike.

Yep and lots of them hehehe.....

I expect them to be around the $160 mark, dont know exactly due to them still being in Britain..... Fairly hefty price since they will only last me a week or two and they are only going to be left on the road... (the plastic ones only last half a track day for me :( )

It was getting rediculous for me too! I am gunna be good now and keep me knees in and not hang off the bike on road rides. It's a new challenge for me to change my riding style, its quite fun even. :)

Don't worry CK, when we'll go for that long awaited blast together, I'll make sure I am fully prepared (knee sliders, race suit, the works!)

Tony Campbell (R1, Hawera) used to use them - at Taupo going through the esses he was brilliant to watch - sparks everywhere!

Hamish tells me some places have banned them because the sparks can burn the guy behind - and Hamish doesn't get much of a chance to say stuff (those who know me will understand why!!) but when he does say something he's very rarely wrong. Just pointing this out TS in case you're thinking of racing with them. Not sure exactly who has banned them, it may be overseas perhaps. Anyone else know?

My titanium toe sliders last really well (one of the benefits of keeping a small chicken strip ;) ) (I mean as opposed to no chicken strip)

ohh arr aye--a trip doon memory lane- When I were a lad coke cans were made of real metal. we used to crush em under the instep of our boots
and ride allong with our can clad boots on the grounds--Mundo big sparkies
-especially good at nite
Then when the racing guys started getting their knees on the ground
we crushed cans. -(-Lion red ones gave ya the most cred ) and taped em to the knees of our leathers -Now that looked bloody spectacular when ya finally got ya knee down.
I got in real deep shit with my mum for cutting up her plastic chopping block and attaching the 100mm round bits to a set of skateboard knee pads. -actually come to think of it they worked pretty well
Back in them days we couldn't figure out howinhell the yanks could smash empty beer cans on their foreheads-do that with a steel can and-shit it bloody hurt :(
