Doesn't seem dodgey at all! And you have the safety of trading through an unnamed escrow service!

How do they take your money if it goes in Escrow though? That's the bit I don't understand

If that's anything like a root I know Weasel's not too fussy...

everyone would be in f1 racing those instead of rule changes in f3, see if he will sell 20 for a full field

Uh-hu. Just send your cheque to Global Fidelity and Trust Guarantee Escrow Services , Inc. You know who they are , right? Your money will be TOTALLY safe with them. Of course it will. Escrow is only as meaningful as your faith in whoever runs the escrow service.

Gotcha.

In my innocence I assumed the escrow service is provided for/by Trademe.

Typically the seller is the escrow service. Money goes straight to them, goods don't go to the buyer

Looking at the guys feedback... he's pulled out of a few sales and not made payment on a few others... seems like a bad rep IMO

the account owner has nothing to do with this. it's a phished account.

Noticed a few of these appearing on Trademe recently - all with different sellers - maybe someone is hacking in trying to empty these peoples accounts with huge success fees? Then again maybe not...

:gob: buuuuuuuut ..... isn't that illegal? :shit: how could he get away with that?

I'm not sure of how illegal everything is. Someone else will have to answer that

And these people remain anonymous behind a computer and they constantly change their account details. They're hard to trace, therefore they get away with it

placidfemme

I don't see the point in it really... Unless they get the funds deposited into thier own accounts and the fee's go to the users account and the buyer gets ripped off... very dodgy...

Edit: But they can be traced through their bank account numbers can't they?

Uh, yes. Exactly that. You want to try tracing bank account numbers internationally, through a few nominee companies, via the Cayman Islands. Good luck. Eventually you'll track the bank account down. Opened 19/12 by Wanrongoo Wobbuni , Nigeria. Closed out 22/12, immediately after receipt of funds.

:gob: buuuuuuuut ..... isn't that illegal? :shit: how could he get away with that?

It's totally illegal, it's fraud. If caught he'd go to jail, but he won't get caught cos it's all on the internet, he'll be operating out of some internet cafe in buttfuck Congo, or Belgrade, or Novo Sibersk. He can get away with it because people are not careful enough with their internet security and their money.
