Right here's a chance for 250 riders who have been out on Mav's rides to put what they have learnt into practice on a track.

The track day is being run by Kiwi Track Days (http://www.kiwitrackdays.co.nz). There are not many TD's held at Puke most seem to be at Taupo now here's your opportunity to take your riding to the next level without having to travel for 4 hours (execpt McJim that is, with his riding it'll still take him 4 hours to get to puke).

The cost is $100 paid in advance or $130 Pay on the day.

For those that are serious about coming along send me a PM as i have managed to secure us a discounted price.

Discounted price is only open to LEARNERS that will be riding in the slow group at the Track Day and who have been on one of Mav & McJim's learner friendly rides.

I will also make avaliable the use of my 636 for a couple of lucky Learners to have a couple of laps on (conditions apply).

Do not be worried about what type of bike you have i'll be bringing a learner on a GN along. Just remember it's not a RACE DAY its a Track Day, if you have a bike like WarlockNZ (or any form of Honda) that strugle to do more than 60km thats all good cause the idea is for you to learn about braking zones, corner apex's etc .... etc not travel at the speed of light.

So the moral of my ramblings .........

Don't be ashamed of what you ride (Dover isn't) come along and give it ago, you'll love it.

did a open day on the rgv when i had it.. bloody good fun, only wish i could've done it first on one of these days, hitting the track with the R6's and Duc's doesnt really help you improve :(

wear full gear and check your bike over before you hit the track (get rid of the mirrors and other bits that wont be of any use), prefferably taping over your speedo as its just a distraction.

i might come along on the gsxr if i can afford it

Umm last trackday I went to it was $90 how come the price hike if it's a discounted rate? Is there anything special we're paying for?

i think you will find the last one you went on was an open day which means you share the track with cars ......

this is a BIKE ONLY track day which means they have hired the track so no others can use it.

Note: Frosty has NOTHING to do with these Track Days thought i'd make that clear b4 i get jumped on but these thread will tell you waht to say to your insurance company.

They don't have to have a WOF or Reg but i do believe that they have to be up to a warranted standard i.e. tyres, brakes etc etc

WarlockNZ
20th December 2006, 13:55
I've just gotten off the phone with my insurance company and according to the policy wording, as long as the track day is not being used as either a "race" or "in preparation" for a race i'm covered ...

HOWEVER..

If i exceed the legal speed limit (read 100km per hour), i'm NOT covered ... as this would be classed as riding at unsafe speed ... LOL.

I'm going to have to go over to the tourette thread and say some nasty things.

I think you will find you have to do the other usuals for taking any vehicle onto the track, like having a catch bottle for any overflows

If you check Frosty's trackday posts, it has all the info you need :done:

Hmmmmm that all depends, he could have a tail wind going down the back straight, thats got to be good for at least 110-120 on a hyobag!

on the down side it would mean he'd be going backwards on the front straight.

Well then you should be fine. The track has no legal speed limit, and therefore your insurance company would be hard pressed to say you were breaking a speed limit in the case of an accident.

Is this with or without the 10% speedo error that Hyo's have? :Punk:

And if you keep hassling Warlock then you might have 2 electric mangos to contend with on track day

I'll be there, but only in a spectating capacity.

SWMBO has put the squeeze on my play money, and I just spent my last hundy of hidden cash on a LOT of beer (Countdown doing 24 boxes for $20 - I couldn't say no!)

So yeah, Daisy will be there, but will have to wait a bit longer before I experience the joys of on track riding... except for crossing to the infield...

If you are running a road bike, then a catch bottle is not generally required for controlled testing days at Pukekohe or Frosty's track days. It should at least be to a warrantable standard though, for your own safety. You shouldn't need to drain your glycol and run water only in your cooling system or have to lockwire your sump plug either. Make sure you don't have any sharp bits sticking out, tape up your headlight if its glass, might pay to tape over your brake light and take off your mirrors and even indicators as well.

However, I haven't done a Kiwi tack days track day before, but I would be surprised if they were much different to others.

might pay to tape over your brake light.

I'd suggest NOT doing this. Your brake light is a handy indicator to those behind you that you're breaking...

Also, you manage to get into a position where you smash your break light, a little plastic will be the least of your problems.

You should be using markers on the track, not other riders, but I guess it comes down to your track experience and the group you're running. You're probably right for the slower groups.

I'm not referring to breaking spots, although as a learner that can help with your lines and lap times etc... I was thinking more around if you're coming up behind someone trying to overtake, seeing if they're breaking can be helpful.

I think they have about 20hp (anyone confirm), so for the money I'd way rather have an FXR150.

If you are a poser rider, then I'm sure they'll trick the average sheila/non-rider into thinking it's a weapon. But if you ride for the pleasure of the ride, and to improve your riding skills you might want something with a bit more go. Plus I don't need to point out (but I'm going to do it anyway) that the Korean and Chinese bikes haven't passed the test of time, and they certainly don't take being dropped very well.

27Hp Standard I think execpt for the Electric Mango Ones they seem to only have about 15 - 18Hp.

If you own one make sure it is insured as when it falls over it costs to get them fixed.

Bastard! ... LOL ..

27HP, with a listed top speed of 180K .. but you would need a tailwind .. lol .. and yes .. they are larger than a standard Jap 250.

Taupo is a much better track imo, especially for a smaller cc bike, my choice would be to wait for May.

Mate your kids were so well behaved at the Kentish, if it's a baby sitting problem I'd be happy to help out. I'm keen to have a look at a track day. Of course if it's a coin problem then your'e shit out of luck.
