The Yamaha MT-01 concept that caused such a stir at the Tokyo Motor Show several years ago is now a reality -- Yamaha is manufacturing the MT-01 for availability early next year. According to one of Yamaha's press representatives in the United States, Brad Bannister, the MT-01 is a Europe-only model for 2005. Yamaha U.S. is studying the market, however, and it is possible the MT-01 will be available in the United States in the future, but not for 2005.
True to the concept, the MT-01 retains much of the styling that was so well received at the Tokyo show, and features a version of the air-cooled Road Star 1,700cc engine surrounded by a sportbike-quality chassis, suspension and brakes. Yamaha is calling the MT-01 a "torque sports roadster".

It looks like the MT-03 will also be making it too production unscathed.
Got to hand it to Yamaha atm for stepping outside the square and taking risks. I hope it pays off and we see other manufacturers doing the same.
Although neither of the bikes particularly suit my tastes I sure the potential spin off to other include lessons learnt into other models will mean sweetness for all.

Not quite mate,Bulldog was the sanitised result of the concept bike(see the link in my post in the other MT-01 thread  ).Bulldog was a nice bike but the public didn`t want a nice bike they wanted the MT-01 and it bombed spectacularly.Had the softy 1100 Virago motor and as usual the press missed the point and slaughtered it.If you like more sedate bikes like say BMs or Guzzis then it`ll do just fine, the press seemed to look on it as the new V-Max,largely it seems by mis-understanding Yams press release, and trashed it when it didnt even come close to being a fire-breathing tarmac melter.I`m not sure whether it`s still in the range or not,I like it but very, very few have been sold, and those that were were bought at some pretty impressive discounts.
