Who here hates helmet hair? I'm a bit of a vain teenager so I do. Carry a comb and hairgel in my bag for real bad cases. So what do you guys do and think?

I accept helmet hair but I don't like it! It feels so good to put a brush thru my hair - but not enjoying trying to get the knots out - despite tying it up - that comes off! But what a luxury problem. It's worth the flat hair - for the sheer joy of riding!

Got it in one.
I don't suffer from helmet hair (my hair's long and straight and looks the same whatever I do to it). Boys with helmet hair - just means they're having a good time!

I guess none of you lot have ever had NO HELMET hair? That was a real mess - I had long hair in thoses days,to have short hair meant you had just been inside....or worse you were some kind of mummies boy.The hair used to whip into a big knot at the back of your head....I didn't brush or comb my hair much, and when I did it was almost impossible to get it untangled.

Carry on....

Hence the invention of the doo rag.
Not something I really care about as yet another velcro head.
My head does not fit into a helmet with long hair.

I use a Lycra beanie to keep my ears attached when I have the iPod attached.
This leaves my hair in less need of a splash of water when attached front to back. Most days I don't bother with wvven the splash..

waylander - I have and he really needs to wear the cap as soon as his helmet comes off.......
Especially if his hair is longer.... than usual........ (pt)

Hey we all wear helmets and we have helmet hair at some stage...

When I take my helmet it off..... my hair sticks out at the sides......
so a quick running the hands throu the hair sorta sorts it out....

I've had a number 4 and a number 1 once... so much easier.........

Getting there. At least now I have a goatee to go with it.

If I botherd to use Shampoo and conditioner on it, it would be better but I'm a guy and don't really care so plain bar of soap does me just fine.

I'm not part of the Gell generation and would don't mind "helmet hair".It looks a lot better than the birds nest I usually got after a rough night in the sack. Besides, as you get a bit older the helmet will stop your hair from blowing away in the breeze.

Yours is an easy fix though.
1 10c scrunchy + tuck it in your jacket = no tangles.
2 10c scruncies one at each end of your hair = no tangles.
If you prefer to have the wind in your hair when armed with this knowledge then you know the risks you take, and the ultimate outcome.

Gel, definitely the way to go. I find liberal applications in the correct location prior to helmet use followed by a general roughing up following helmet removal works well.

If in doubt, ask Postie. His hair never moves.

My signature really sums it up nicely though...

Once on ya bike why would ya want to stop and take ya hat off???? Often going to the lav' at the garage after filling with juice, check the mirror... think "shite that is bad hair", only to put a wet hand through it and fek it up. Best ya leave ya head fluff as it is, and leave it how it lies.

urgh ..... gel on the inside of the helmet can get decidedly blech ....
I have had one work person smirk at me about helmet hair and I told them they could go ahead and laugh 'cause I had just had breakfast in Featherston on a glorious summers workday morning. Shut them up pretty quickly.
Now - its a pretty quick check in the mirrors when I park and that's it baby.
