We are leaving Lower Hutt early tomorrow and heading up to Gisborne then on to Whakatane/Opotiki for the following night and then on to Taupo for the racing. We will be taking the two black Honda Bros's with matching RJays Explorer Bags (the big ones) so don't forget to wave out.
We bought a couple of Rjays bags this year so that we don't look like a travelling circus like previous years! The weather forecast looks okay for the next 3 days, so here's hoping for a good day for the racing at Taupo.

Safe riding these holidays everyone!

It's raining today so we went back to our Xmas trip post and added some pictures. Took a while to work out how to do it, but ta-daah we got there!
Well, we finally arrived home last night. Left Taupo about 4 o'clock in the sun and hit rain at Turangi but decided to go ahead across the Desert Road although all the oncoming cars had their headlights on! Well as luck would have it, the clouds parted and the wind dropped and we got across dry, and decided to continue on to Wellington. Hit yuk weather at Paraparaumu down to Wellington.
When we left Lower Hutt on the 28th, we left in heavy rain up until Foxton and then crossed over through the Gorge to sunshine, but blowing a gale. Got better as we moved towards Hawkes Bay. Stopped at Hastings where the lady at the cafe asked if we were cold, because we were all rugged up against the weather and everyone else had t shirts and shorts on (really hot day in Hastings).
Went to the bike shop in Karamu Road where Jeff spotted a 1200ZRX Kawasaki and needless to say we are going back up on Wednesday to have a better look at it and probably bring it home (that makes 8 bikes now!). I must remember not to let him in anymore bike shops while we are away!
Carried on to Gisborne for the night (550k in one day) and stayed at the motorcamp at the A&P showgrounds (oh lovely a cold shower, because my 50c ran out midway through the shower at 10 at night (they are still using our old coins for the showers).
Went on the next day to Whakatane. Quite a lot of roadworks after Tokomaru Bay. Stopped at Te Araroa for lunch, really nice hot day. There were several other bikers there at the same time. Good weather right round the cape, but a bit breezy after Te Araroa to Omaio. Stopped at the Info Centre at Opotiki and they rung through the campground at Whakatane and booked us a tent site. The campground is five minutes walk to town. Went to a pub in the centre of town for tea had the in-house steak special at $10 a head. Went round by the boat launching area and had a look in the cave there.
Headed off to Taupo the next day, really good riding down through there and a quick trip down. Hit patchy rain at Rotorua and missed the worst of it at Taupo. Cleared up when we got there. Went out to the track and went to the wrong end, couldn't see anyone about so went back into town. Stayed at Fern Lodge (which is a fancy backpackers). We had our own room with bathroom and tele. They have a shared kitchen with all the utensils and a shared lounge room. They have parking under the building and we parked right outside the door. The cost for the 2 of us was $120.00 a night, a bit different to the usual budget motels we usually opt for when there is rain about, but Taupo was booked out.
Finally went to the right end of the track on raceday. They have done a lot of work since we were there last year, it was just a graded dirt track then. Heaps of bikes turned up for the racing and we had really nice weather.
Met a couple, Noel and Leanne at the track (from Palmy). Leanne has just bought a 650 Bros.
We were going to stay up that way last night, but the weather looked a bit dodgy and came home in one hit.
We did 1600k all up and the bikes went well.
I think that was summer that 3 days in a row of sun we have had!
Hope the rest of you have had good riding days. Sounds like the weather in Wellington has been a bit poopy while we were away.
