Hmmm.... I got a WOF for my car last week... and I've lost it before taking the old one off and putting the new one on... If I cant find it... and get pulled over... then the officer can look up in the car to find that I do have current WOF aye??... What if I get a parking ticket or something?... would that be invalid if they checked the system?....
If I cant find it... Im not sure I can get another one till my mechanic is back from holidays (around 8th jan)... the sticker on window shows that WOF expired 14th december... however the new one is up till june 2007....

Do you know if it will cost me for a replacement one?...

Such a dork for losing it... I put it in my car so that I would remember to put it on... then when I went to... it wasnt in there... and I've looked thru car a couple of times to no avail... think I might've thrown it out by mistake

The Police don't have WOF details available, they rely on being able to check the sticker, so if you can't produce it, then it could be a drama.

They only have registration details on their system.

most WOF people remove the old one when you pass a WOF and give you the new one to put up.

I clear off the old sticky stuff and put up the new one before leaving the testing station.....so that way I know Im all legal to drive the vehicle on the roads.

If you have a ordinary garage doing it........ surely the mechanic would put it up on the window for you..?

It may cost you a few cents for a replacement sticker.......... but that is cheaper than a big fine.

Mum gave me it last week....when I had probs with my car I asked our mechanic to do a WOF once he'd fixed the coils and he did but forgot to put it on lol... so he gave it to mum... mum gave it to me attached to a bit of paper with a paperclip... then yeah... I lost it... lol...

It shouldnt cost anything (Never costs us) and its just a matter of them checking the system, seeing when your WOF is next due and giving you a replacement sticker.

Never, ever leave a WOF sticker lying around either, last thing you want is to have the cops knocking on your door asking why XYZ123 is not legal for the road yet he is driving round with a current WOF sticker in your name.

Awesome, thanks for that Sniper :)

Yeah Im pretty sure I threw it out or put it somewhere safe (I was so sure it was in the glovebox...) *shrug*... It wouldnt get into anyone's hands who would do that with it. Will have another hunt for it before going to testing station place... maybe im not looking hard enough

It must be displayed. But any decent cop would let ya off as long as it is current.

The inspector has to stick your new WoF on before you leave the pemises - I know testing station never do,but it was always in the book as a requirment....just another thing testing stations get away with that a garage can't.You have to pay for a replacement sticker,it's in a VIRM as a fixed rate. But seeing as he's in the wrong he probably won't charge in the hope you keep quiet.....fat chance of that eh?

LOL... I just cant believe that I seem to have lost it... will have another hunt for it after work... maybe its under the seats or somethin. Didn't know that they have to stick it on before you leave... depending on circumstance (day/time etc) if there's somewhere that suits me better to get it from then ill go there... and they never stick them on... the testing ONROAD places along with the orange buildings.. VINZ or somethin?... I usually do it soon as I get home (get new warrant before old one expires) but in this case I was in too much of a hurry to get out the door for a dinner date and didnt.

Does your warrant have something written in the box that says "System Auth No" ? If it does, it's in the LTSA system. Ring them back quote that number and tell them to pull finger - and tell them to check the creation date, cos the WoF place has probably put the wrong year on it something. (EDIT: Unless the "tick if offline" box is ticked - in which case as next para) .

If you haven't got anything in that box, the WoF place hasn't processed it, you need to go blow them up (can I watch ? )

I think this is correct , but correction is welcome.

The system will automaticaly give a 12 month WoF,but it's common for the inspector not to pick that up ( do it myself heaps) So even if it shows 6 months on the sticker it will be 12 months in the system. If the system say the WoF has expired,it has expired - no way around that.

I FOUND IT!!! YAY!! :wari:... Just finished putting it on, had slipped down the side of the seat by centre console bit.. :D
Whew... one less thing to worry about...

Now the only thing I need worry about is that my car started making an aweful ticking noise this morning... doesnt sound happy at all... Dad says its the tappets?... and that I might have bent something from over revving it?...
he reckons its fine n wont die on me or anything.... but has me concerned.... supposed to be going down to Tauranga soon... not sure if I should take the Subaru now... but then if its only a bit of noise then its better than the Safari (Diesel no good up hills)... anyone know bout tappet thingies?

Why not take the bike?

And what are you comming to my town for?

Why not take the bike?

And what are you comming to my town for?

Cuz I've got a passenger...

For a piss up (friends mums birthday) :D :wari:... will be coming home tomorrow sometime or sunday morning... some of my mates are staying there for NY's... but I wanna be in aucks for it...

Still have to go fill the wagon up... and shoot out west to pickup friend.
Then get there... Im just still not sure bout the ticking tappet thing...
EDIT: have been told its common in subaru's and mitsi's... and usually when it starts ticking I get a full service and shes fine again... I am due for a service... but its never ticked consistently as it is now... even at 100k's you can almost hear it... idling its a slow tick... and with rev's gets faster/louder...

So what sort of Subaru - a 1978 DL 1400 or a twin turbo Legacy? The early pushrod motors were prone to rocker wear as not much oil got up there - we used to build up and reface the rockers with work hardening bronze. But I presume it's a latter model - lifter failure is common,so is an air leak to the oil pump.
