Does anyone in Christchurch have a scissor jack, motorcycle lift or similar that I can borrow?

Having to remove the engine from my bike and with having repair costs to now think about/budget for, I can't afford to buy one at the moment.

Ratchet tiedowns and garage roof rafters are your friends. Ahh, many a time I've had a couple of hundred kilos hanging from the roof. Stopping it swinging is difficult though.

One like this you mean? Just a standard car type one. It extends up to a bit over 30cm.

No. I've got one of those and it's of no use.

Hoping someone has something like this....

Otherwise a dirtbike stand. Main reason is, not only do I need to remove the engine but I also need to take off the rear wheel as the sproket needs replacing.

Can't you improvise with some bits of 4 x 4, old paint tins, etc in conjuction with the car jack.

Just an idea. If your draining all the fluids, removing petrol tank etc, how about then undoing one side of the engine bolts, carefully lowering bike over on its side then removing the rest of the bolts and then just get someone to help lift frame off engine ? Then carry on with wheel removal etc.

Well I just went and scored 4 ratchet tie downs from Supercheap for $20. :Punk:

So I'll be trying that method. Wish me luck.
