I went for a ride with a mate from work and awhen we were stopped near the end he said I should try locking up my rear wheel at low speed so I can see what it was like.

On a quiet patch of road at very low speed I tried to lock up my wheel using rear brakes.

Disgusted I turned back to my mate and said "I dunno what's wrong I can't do it"

He replied "What are you talking about you did it each time and the last one you did a skid for about a metre!"

Scary = I can't tell when my rear wheel locks! :shit:

The learning continues....

Hmm. you must have a hard rear tyre.

Try it on a corner. I'll bet you know its locked then :dodge:

I know of a certain Kb'er who seems to do this all the time. Went round to his house and noticed that the driveway/footpath/grass/garden was all full of skidmarks. You know who you are lol.

Maybe it's because I'm used to much lighter (push) bikes when you can hear and feel it a lot easier.

Good on you for trying it out and thinking about what riding two wheels of freedom entails! Your buddy deserves cred for also getting you to test your skill envelope as well

Anyhows, if you keep practising your emergency braking - you'll find out more about braking and your reactions during it!
