a new thread, it does not show under new posts. I can find it in the forum I posted in but not under new posts? I find this frustrating as most people would go to new posts before targeting specific forums I would have thought. Your thoughts and comments please.

Logical enough.New Posts shows posts that are new FOR YOU ie stuff you have not seen.If you were the poster you have seen the post. So it is not a new post for you. Don't worry, other people WILL see it in new posts

I like KB Spy it shows all posts and you can follow several "conversations" at the same time.

That's Maurice for y'. He doesn't waste any time. We did warn Mr Colapop about him, but it's the old story; inevitably sooner or later the novice forgets and bends over to pick something up.

If I post a new thread or add to an existing thread, the whole thread disappears from "New Posts" until someone else contributes. I can only go to the thread by going to my own profile and hitting "See all grub's posts"
It's weird and more than mildly annoying. I guess whatever is causing that is in the software but I though some phpnuts might have the answer.

New posts only shows threads that you haven't read. The fact that you just posted means that you've read to the end of that thread, therefore it isn't new anymore.
You can also access the thread by going to the forum itself - Click on the "Kiwi Biker Forums" link at the top left of the page. Hope this helps. :niceone:

Can someone tell me why my posts or threads never show on the new posts page? Also it seems that anything posted on the Dirt riding forum never gets to go on the new posts page either!
Answers please?

They wont show till someone else posts in them as theyre no longer a new post to you once youve seen/posted at the end of it.

The new posts you see are specific to you.
Threads that appear in your "new posts" have posts that you have not read.
If you have read everything in a thread, that thread will not appear in your new posts. Simple.
Stuff in the Dirt Bike forum will only appear in your new posts if there is an un-read post.

This thread showed back again for you, after we had all posted in it.
That is how I saw the thread again.
Now once I post I wont see it again unless someone else posts back in here.
Unless I go hunting for it in 'site stuff' forum.
My links posted above are to get hold of the moderators, which is the best way to go when one does have a problem with figuring out KB.
The first link was about 'post counts no longer being counted'.....
yep I misread the post.. lol oops sorry.
I am not sure who the moderator is now for off-road and dirt-bike stuff is.
It used to be Motu.

Actually Crashe- no use at all! that thread is about post counts and rants not the new post page. Just seems that when I rely on the New posts page to see if anything has been said in Dirt Forum, it doesnt tell me and when I go in there, there have been heaps of posts going on that are not being notified on the new post page.:angry2:

Jeez, how to make it clearer...?
Okay, when you click on "new posts", it is NOT a chronological list of everything that's been posted. It is a list of threads with posts that you haven't read.
Try it. Click on "new posts". Click on and read a whole thread. Go back to the forum main page and click on new posts again - the thread you just read will not be there.
Does that make sense?

See my above post....... I explained it that I misread your thread.
Can I suggest that you contact Joni as she does site stuff behind the scenes on this site....and she should be able to sort it all out for you.
Direct her to this thread with the link to it..... that way she can read this and try to figure out what has gone wrong in the dirt-bike forum.
All the best.

RIGHT!! Im getting the hang now... what was confusing me is that this site is run on the same program as DirtBikeWorld in Ausie (v-bulletin) which I spend a lot of time on. This site is very similar in its nuts and bolts but has more features activated and a bit more bling!- I'll get it sorted, just be patient with me .....

I've just checked. The Off Road forum stuff is definitely appearing in new posts (for those, of course, that haven't read it...!)

Hi all, I've searched this but can't find an answer.
When I reply to a thread, it usually doesn't show that post in the right chronological order on the "New Posts" page. In fact often it doesn't show at all.
Does anyone know why?

Cos it's not new to you since you posted it. I don't use "new posts" any more but click "Quick Links" and click "Today's Posts" to navigate the site. Dunno if this is the best way but it works for me
When you look at it this way, the new posts and old posts are separated too
