Got a trail bike my mate can buy/rent?

I've got a mate who's done a couple of organised trail rides down in Taupo/Rotorua, when he got completely hooked.

He's moved to Auckland, and wants to come up North to join me on the Kahoe trail ride on the 7th Jan. He'd like to rent/borrow a 250cc'ish bike, and will consider anything, or if it can be worked out in time, he's looking to buy something up to about $4k, if anyone's got anything suitable - 4 stroke, 250cc ish, not too 'focussed', maybe XR/DR or anything else in the right price bracket.

Thanks everyone, have put him in touch with the companies you've suggested. KLX sounds like a good place to start, and he lives in Devonport too. Pity he flagged it away this weekend, it was the prospect of travelling back to Auckland in the inevitably horrendous traffic.
