well i guess it had to happen some time, on our way over the kopu - hikuai's today i took a corner a smidgen to fast and half way round taped the front to slow down a bit and the bike stood up and off i went into a nice ditch and bank, i went over the front and the bike bounced back onto the road, i'm sweet thanks to my back protector just a bit of a dead leg and that it, i'll post up some more pics in a few days when i get home, but does anyone know how much a new set of forks cost?

Heard back from the insurance company today, the repair costs we're valued at $9850 and the bike valued at $7800, which isn't bad considering i payed $8000 for it a year and a half ago, so minus my exces if $1500 i'm getting $6300 back, i'll use that to pay off some bills and then start saving for a deposit on a new bike in a few months woohoo!

It doesn't have a post speed for the corner but i'd guess about 55? and i was doing maybey 80-90? it's about 8 or 9 kms up the kopu hikuai road as it starts to get into the really twisty bits

Why is it soooooooo easy to write a bike off these days?
Seems, if the bike's worth less than $20K and it's more than a fall off the stand - she's f**ked!

The forks are bent back and to the side, both discs are damaged and i think the wheel is aswell, the exhaust has been flatened, some minor paint work which could probibly be missed and a broken footpeg, thats about as all i can see but there's bound to be more to push the bill up that far,
i was getting a bit bored with it anyway so this is a good chance to take a break and save some cash towards a better bike

Your poor baby. RIP VTR :bye:
Glad to hear you were wearing the right gear and bounced when you hit the road! Hopefully the dead leg feeling goes away fast and you have a cheque in the mail already. Take care of yourself, and we'll see you back on two wheels again soon.

Glad to hear you are ok, pity about the bike though!
Maybe a "blessing in disguise"? Now you get to look for another bike...
Take care

I'm quite enjoying that part at the moment, so far hayabusa's lead the pack followed up by ZX12, i'm going to try and test a VFR800 and some BMW's tomorrow if the weather is good :scooter:

Doesn't take much to write off a bike these days. Parts are a wicked price. :(
