Weather. Fekking freezing. Power bill for December/January will be like a Winter one. Yay for the return of the cyclical, weak El Nino weather pattern.
Work. On-call for 4 weeks. Can't go anywhere or do anything. Looks like I'll probably end up on-call full time this year. Too old for that sort of life style. Not exactly what you'd call "hungry" to succeed at my job. In fact I hate it with a passion, but it gets us by.
New tyre is barely scrubbed in. Still waiting for bits to turn up (not bike shop's fault) from my off about 3 months ago. Haven't been on a ride longer than 17kms except for the Christmas Eve round the Bays ride and Uncle B's funeral over the last 6 weeks.
Rooted a helmet commuting FFS.
Even BMW is sounding happy. She's supposed to be miserable and I'm supposed to be apathetic. I can't even reach the lofty heights of apathy.
Happy New Year everyone.

Cheer up bud. Another couple of weeks and summer will be here.
I too had a shit December, including the work side of things, but the missus and me got back together, so thats kinda covering all that stuff, but I still feel sorta flat.
You must have one good news story to share from the last month. Focus on that, I am.

At least you can ride....
My foot is itchy - the one encased in blue plaster, of course.
Its fecken cold in Aucks.
Mstrs had a go at me for demanding my share of the blankets in the midddle of the night.
The boys are off for a ride - I am allowed to follow in the car, so I guess I should be grateful.
Happy New Year, ya grumpy old git:love:

Oh yeah, Happy New Years.

Its too hot to ride in anything but tee shirt and shorts.......particularly with the heat rash I've got for the first time in my life! Even the roos are just lying under the trees
Haven't been on a ride longer than 200K except for the last commute on the 20th
All we can do is lie under the aircon unit......
The office doesn't reopen until the 8th, so I have to use up precious holiday allowance now, not when I want to.....at least it gives me time to divert grey water to the orchard and garden and think of other ways to save this precious commodity........(shower with a friend...)......and the parrots stripped the fruit off the peach trees!!!!
The CB350 needs the new top end gasket set thats been sitting in the drawer for the last 6 months........
My gammy leg is giving me gyp, the roosters are trying to kill each other and I got a speeding ticket on OUR road, by an out of district cop! Bastidge!
Yeah - things are pretty normal. :dodge:

The whole weather thing is nuts... we are supposed to get regular rain this time of year where I live, but it's so dry I am spending hours watering the new trees/plants etc with the lack of decent rain and too much wind.... oh joys of being rural and needing rain! Poor old Wellers has had a tough year (06) for weather, I must say I don't miss living down there.

Fuck that. Get them to train up some other bugger and if they don't, leave. Remember that your fine employers have a commitment to their clients to have someone around 24/7 to look after their shitbox windows rigs (?) and if you leave and are genuinely the only one who can look after it, they've broken the contract and are in deep shit.
Anyway, hiring season starts monday so CV season starts now. Perhaps put your spare time to some use?

You have my sympathies, and identification. Suspect you're also in IT and past the 'young and enthusiastic' stage, me too. This year both Mum and Dad died (good long innings both tho), and I found I had a brain tumour mid November. Now the good news, tumour turned out to be benign, and treatable by drugs (phew), but not allowed to ride for 6 weeks after the biopsy, so out of action til end of Jan. The weather up here in Aucks is shite but not nearly as shite as down in Welly. My bro in law down there said he had to light his fire a couple days ago, so cold. Grew up in Lower Hutt so know the weather :(
Anyway, I'm sure it will get better, hang in there.
