View Full Version : Frosty's race report - Nelson

FROSTY
2nd January 2007, 21:58
Well.. what a day.. !!! You guys don't know what you're missing out on not doing the Nelson street races!! I'm still absolutely buzzing from the racing I got to do!!! I entered formula 2 & 3, but managed to burgle a free practice in formula 1. To be totally honest, at the end of my first 4 laps with the formula 1 guys, I thought to myself.. what the ...... am I doing here.. this is fucking insane!! Picture this if you will.. you're hammering down a straight at 150 -200 kmph.. (depending if you're Nicko or slow poke Frosty) & you have to brake & right angle turn into a section of road the size of a frigging driveway!!! thee size you are heading towards is 300mm high kerbing you then gas & go round a series of right angled corners.. so there is very little flow to the track, but somehow it is totally addictive. About a third of the way through the day, Nicko gave me some of his harden up pills, & I actually started to race!! I'd bore you guys with the ins & outs of my performance, but I did well enough to qualify for King of the Port, which is the top 5 finishers in every class, & is a 10 lap, all in race, Motards, formula 1, 2 ,3 etcetc. all crammed on the track, you can imagine the mahem at turn 1 they were all trying to squeeze into the area the size of a driveway, & no one giving ground!!

Did I have fun today...???? FUCK YEAH!!! will I do it again... darn right!!!!!

I broke in a new virgin pit bitch today as well.. dropped in at the deep in, as per usual by me.. she did a darn good job by looking after me & Nicko.. I'm sure she'll put her own comments up later!! Here's a few pictures of me & 'Lipstick'
Best part of the day for me was a huge race long duel in my last race-we must have swapped positions at least 20 times as we duked it out.-On the last lap nicko and the other 2 fast guys went flying past -we were so intent on our own fight I diddnt even register him passing
Worst part was being right BEHIND diesel pig heading down to the hairpin. Totally committted to the corner I was suddenly looking at a cloud of smoke from his back tyre as he struggled to get his bucking beastie to coast around the corner.
Scared me so I hat to imagine what was going through his head.
Met so many cool KBers I really couldnt list them--but all fantastic people

FROSTY

Nicko did bloody well getting 2nd in F2.. & 3rd in Bears.. from a spectator point of view, it was some of the most exciting racing of the day!!!!

The old van unbelieveably loaded down with gear.. next stop Invercargill, if it's anything like todays racing.. I'm gunna be bouncing off the walls for the next month!!!

FROSTY SAYS......

It was really cool meeting Rashika & Dangerous, and the Duct tape worked wonders!!!

Probably the worst point in my day, was being passed by Diesel Pig on the back straight, only to have him promptly Chernobel his bike right in front of me just as I was committed to breaking for the hairpin.. ie: the bloody right angled driveway!! scared the shit out of me, so I hate to imagine what Diesel Pig was thinking!!

High point of the day was a HUGE racelong battle with another rider in the final race, with the likes of Jarod Love, Nicko, etc right there with us!!!

well it was great to meet you again Frosty old boy ;)
and especially getting a chance to see Lipstick in the flesh (so to speak)
I'm truely sorry but that name has gotta be it you know, it is just the most perfect name for your bike. Now what i wanna know is, does the expensive lipstick live up to its rep...is it TRUELY as long lasting as they claim? :dodge:

My writeup will appear later , after work most likely, cos some of us have to keep the country going you know... short story: after racing all day, we drove back to chch last night, arrived at midnight and I am now at work (7am start). Hows that for hard woman stuff huh?????

Great to meet you Nicko and i was TOTALLY impressed with your riding. It was some of the only racing I was able to watch, seeing both you and frosty in your respective races, loved the BEARS (ofcourse!) and seeing you and Chris (one of our local chch Triumph riders) battling it out was damn shit hot stuff!
Tho being a true blue cantab I did have to congrat him first for beating ya ;) But I guess it gives you something to work on for next year huh? damn i really should shuddup... but yup was great seeing you guys out there, wish i could ride like that... hopefully catch you all again next year!!!!

I couldnt really make it to the pit, i was busy all day.
Were you the #68 Katana? and didnt make it into the KOTP?

If so it would have been because of the other number 68, black R1/6 .He made it through in a different class.Because i did put you through but they must have thought you were down already for another class, was due to not having a list of names of the late entries.

yeah i figured D shoulda been there, but he was just as pissed as the rest of us about missing the last races and when his name didn't come up, thought 'fk em all' lets pack up.
We did watch the KOP tho, was very cool to see frosty and Nicko and Chris going for it ;)

Funny tho Dangerous wasn't a late entry but he did get put in the wrong class, and they just about didn't let him out in post classics... had him in classics! yeah he's old but not quite THAT old ;)

Something seems wrong in those pictures.
I thought it was the colour of the bike, then relised it was the rider.
What happened to the leathers, thought they were being dyed pink to match ? cos dam, you'd stand out then :P

Looks like a good race overall tho.

No dangerous wasnt a late entry he was on the list, Darryl Dawson?
The other 68 wasn't on the list though but i put his number through first as he qualified in a higher class through the list.
You really should have been in the KOTP, sorry.I was the main lap scorer and sorted out the racers for the KOTP(was in the finish line box), when guys that were already in the top 5 for another class i choose others.Sorted out the two 50s and two 34s in other classes but they wernt to make it to the KOP.They must have seen two 68s and assumed it was the same guy as we didnt have both names.

But then i think it was 157(not have the list on me) was in the race after the main man told me to take him out for using illegal fuel.Should have gone with them when they were telling you guys, even if they missed you Graemes spot was given up for grabs.

Thunder - 42 in post classics - was called out for KOTP and he was a bit confused - he had already changed out of his gear as he did not believe he would get into KOTP. He didn't go in that race and went in to see if Dangerous could go instead and was told there had been a muck up! I was still very proud - his first street race and all!!!!

Yeah man, that was me also #68 in buckets (noisie wee fuker)

I was the main lap scorer and sorted out the racers for the KOTP(was in the finish line box).
1st up... ta man good job, a job that I know isnt easy.

The thing is... 1 post classic race went well
the other race was a giant fuk up, you guys couldnt have scored corect as HAD WE BEEN TOLD what was happening then the guys on buckets would have been on post classic bikes and managed a score for the KOP, instead we were on wrong bikes and all mixed up.. hell I was let off with one other post classic the rest were held back.

Shit happens, and buggerd if I know why my name wasnt called duno if I could have even managed 10 laps on the beastly Kat... but how a back marker was called up Im buggered if I know.

Haha we didnt know what was happening either...all these mixed races, i didnt get told shit.Yeah i saw that happen. For the mixed races i was on super alert and managed to score each seperate class and joint. For example the buckets/classics i made a results sheet for both buckets and post classics and also a results for both them together. Then they bloody started shuving everyone together to beat the weather.

Oh the ABs guy chucked in some dude for some reason.I'm guessing because he rode a Ducati :D

Anyways, radical racing mate.
