apteryx_haasti

Anyone around and interested in lunch perhaps next Weds [edit: THURSDAY seems to be the go] at the Black Harp 12.30pm? (or another day if that suits better)

If people could indicate their interest, I can make a booking closer to the time.

*waits with bated breath*

Featherston St, opposite the Feathers. The prices are damn near the same, but the choice is a LOT better.

Colapop
4th January 2007, 18:52
except that it's waaaay more expensive...

Grub
4th January 2007, 18:54
Thursday might just work for me as we're comissioning a new system right in featherston st that day. Will prolly need to call it on the day, depending how deep in doodoo we get

Ah, but the servings are gigantic and the selection of ales DIVINE! Macs HopRocker on tap, anyone? I personally would like a tap of it by my desk, or perhaps just a drip directly into a vein.

Shall we say Thursday, then? 12.30? I'll take a straw poll the day before so I know how big a table to book....

I'll edit the original post...

Colapop

There are some that call me "Horse" but I aint eatin' hay (Or straw for that matter)

Hitcher
4th January 2007, 20:51
I don't care where
As long as there's beer.

Anywhere's good
As long as there's food.

We can go to the Feathers
In all kinds of weathers.

I don't want to carp
But it's good at the Harp.

And there's just no excusin'
The Stella at Leuven.

Hawkeye
4th January 2007, 20:56
Count me in... and....
Ok the Harp may be a bit more expensive than the Feathers... but how much beer are we intending to drink on a lunch-time? I've got to go back to work, so a couple of slightly more expensive drinks is not going to break the bank.
Now a full session at night... That's a different proposition.

No, it's more like I have a memory like a sieve. I normally need to be beaten around the head a few times (I'm only joking Colapop, don't take that literally) before I remember names.
At my age, If you introduce me to too many at the same time, I end up forgetting my own name never mind remembering everyone else.

Too close.
Even at full throttle it would take me less than 8000 rev's to get there. (unless i got a red light and there are three of those in the way, so I suppose walking is another option)

Sorry for the late notice~ if it's not too late I'd like to be on that list (PM sent). Only been back just over a month and would like a chance to meet the Wellington KB crowd.

I won't know anyone there but I've got a job interview in the morning so if you see a lanky young man hellishly overdressed in grey suit with a vacant expression on his face - I'll be behind him in the cargo pants.
So keep an eye out for me :niceone:

apteryx_haasti

ok....

The Black Harp - corner of Featherston and Johnson Streets.

Come off the motorway at the Murphy Street exit. THis comes onto a one way street. Go to the bottom of the street (you'll go past the bus and train stations) and turn right - this is also a one way street and happens to be Featherston Street. Black Harp is about 3 blocks along on the RHS of the street. There are bike parks nearby - I'm sure between the collection of bikers there will be SOMEONE who can give you a crash start...

Drum
9th January 2007, 19:42
Sallo, if you get off the Motorway at Murphy Street and just follow the road (turn right at Thorndon Quay) you will end up riding right past - it'll be on your right hand side (on Featherston St). Theres another pub opposite called Leuven (that'll be on your left hand side).

Ha Ha, AH bet me to it!

Colapop
9th January 2007, 19:47
If you get off the Motorway at Aotea Quay and just follow the road (turn right into the street by the shell then left into Featherston St) you will end up riding right past - it'll be on your right hand side (on Featherston St). Theres another pub opposite called Leuven (that'll be on your left hand side).

Hmmm...if it was a nice enough day I could take a long lunch and ride in from the coast..dunno, will make a call on the day

Hawkeye
10th January 2007, 06:13
Just as an addition to all of the above directions.
When you come along Featherston St, you will see the Black Harp on your right, the Feathers on your left and Leuven forward left. Turn left at these lights and there's a bike park which always has space.

I wish I could go... anyone taking a car over, I cant drive in welly.

Sun has just come up over the hills. Not a breath of wind. (has someone moved me from Wellington while I've been asleep!) Looks like it is going to be a perfect riding day.
I may need to rethink my options.. I was going to take the cage because I have a few things to carry home. But it looks like my son is going to get to drive into Welly today. He can come and pick up the gear. I'm going on the bike. I may even take the lonnnnngggggg way home.

Just as well too: as I am the bikeless, job-seeker guy yarning about interviews and low funds at the moment (how guilty do I look!)

Well, I might be the last to post and say that I hope that's not the last time we do this - it was great. Nasty & I have just got home from having dinner with a couple of Normandale bikers {buuurp}.

The downer is that we had to weave our way past yet another smash on that first left hander after the top of Haywards heading norf. I couldn't see any car(s), Nasty wasn't sure but someone was being worked on over on the outside edge of the corner ... I have a sickening feeling it might have been a biker.

How in gods name do people crash on *that* corner? It's the same one where a car went off late last year with at least one fatality

OK - just to satisfy my curiousity...who were the people down the other end of the table? Here's lunch as I know it:

? / ? / Hawkeye / Grub / Nasty / Jim2 / nudez / garry_H / fatjim
On the other side we had:
? / ? / Colapop / Mrs KD / KD / rwh / A_H / elle33f / Hitcher / XP@(on end of table)

So, who were you - mysterious question mark people??

Thanks again to everyone for turning out - what a great crowd and thanks also to the Black Harp who could cater to such a big group even when my booking consisted of:

Day 1 - 14
Later day 1 - 16
Day 2 - make it 18
Later day 2 - actually I've got like 15 definites and 5 probablies...

(bonus was definitely talking to the guy with the scrummy accent to organise the booking )

Thumbs up to them.
