Hey all

We will be in Invercargill in mid Feb, and my wife Carissa is keen to visit places of interest about Burt
Any help or suggestions?

Where is the beach where he used to race etc? and is there a musuem?

Thanks in advance

Cheers Scott

Try to get a look at Bill Richardsons Truck Museum. Not Burt related but everything in it is done/restored by people in the area shows the ingeniuity of Southlanders. Its pretty awesome and I'm not even into trucks. I'd like the Texaco one.

Have a look at the Burt Munro Rally website (http://www.burtmunrochallenge.southlandnz.com/burtmunro/theStartLine/). You can still download the Event Manual (http://www.southlandnz.com/sites/southlandnz.com/images/burtmunro/pdf/Manual%20Body.pdf) which has a map on p15 showing the location of Oreti Beach where he used to race/test his bike. Hopefully it will be a bit less windy when you get there than it was on the day of the beach racing (http://www.burtmunrochallenge.southlandnz.com/burtmunro/PhotoGallery/BeachRacing)at the rally ;)

The Southland Museum (http://www.southlandmuseum.com/contact.htm)has a Burt Munro display and you can watch the original documentary which was the genesis of the movie.
