Has anybody hired motorcycles in Australia (Melbourne), or knows of anybody who has, or knows businesses in Melbourne that do this sort of stuff?
Mrs H and I are planning a jaunt in March and would like to hire an FJR1300/ST1300/R1200 sort of thing for a couple of weeks.

Just get naked and go sit on the beach.

Last time I was naked on a beach, a bus-load of Greenpeace members arrived and tried to roll me into the ocean. Terrible business.
Back on topic...

Peel St is a main road in town. Easy to find, the place is on a corner.
Nearly rented from this place once when I was in Melbourne. Felt a little quesy in the shop and said "Ya know, maybe next time" at the last minute.
Half an hour later Mr vomit came to visit. That was lucky.

Jeff who used to own Callender (sp?) Motorcycles here in town hired bikes with a couple of others and rode across the Nullabore to WA last year. BMW 1200GS from memory.
The only Two Wheels mag I have is at work but a Google search should turn up something.

Irons are in fires. It looks like about A$180 a day for a 1150GS.

Hi Hitcher
If you have the January "Motorcycle Trader" there is an article on page 24 about a couple of blokes who toured the outback. They mention an ex-pat Kiwi, Eddie Garner, of Garner Motorcyles in Melbourne who specialises in hring and sales of bikes to foreigners wanting to use Australia as their motorcycling playground.
Might be worth a look

Thanks. I shall Google him and see what transpires.
Shipping bikes over? If we were going for at least a month, that's what we'd do.

Hi Hitcher
Get yourself a copy of Australia Motorcycle Atlas (Whitcoulls have it for $34.99) It gives the top 100 motorcycling rides. Victoria as about 20 of them
My favorites are the Black spur, Great Ocean Road, Great Apine road over Mt Hotham:woohoo:
We have a copy if you would like to have a look.

Sorted. Eddy Garner has come to the party with an FJR1300 and hard luggage.
And we have a copy of the Australian Motorcycle Atlas.
Top advice folks. Much appreciated!
