Hay guys I have just done an oil change on my ZZR 600 but could not undo the oil filter. I got it off with a screwdriver and hammer but could only put the new one on hand tight. Is there a tool to do it if so where can I get one and a rough price?
Cheers

You can a hex tool that goes onto the end of the filter body so a rachet etc can be used.
Around $12 from Cycletreads on Barrys point Rd / Takapuna
Don't forget to put some oil on the rubber sealing band so it does not pick up when you tighten it,make sure you follow the seated turns which depends on the thread, fine or course pitch to stop any possible leaks...fwiw

Various tools for removal. I use a cheapo chain spanner. Does your manual state that the new oil filter has to be on tighter than you get can it with your hands? I've never used a tool to fit a new one.

I agree with CAR. Have owned over ten bikes and none have recomended a tool to fit the oil filter. Too easy to damage the thread by overtightening and also a prick to get off next time.

My ZZR400 is the same frame as your 600 and after taking the side fairings off I was able to get my hand up and replace my filter.

Yeah, always the way. It's either a pig to get to or it's 3mm off the ground, right in the path of the fling-off from a wheel.

where did you get in from the side??? My hands would touch it and also from the front but could not grip it enough to undo it.
