I named my first two bikes, probably because it was traditional to name old VWs, which I was into at the time. They were "Sparky" and then "The Supersonic Sofa". After that, I grew out of it, and they became "The 6R", "The Gixxer", "The 750R", "The Bomb", "The RVF", "The TS".

This one's just "The Bike".

I suspect that if I had more than one bike again, I'd probably find a need to distinguish between them orally.

the triumph bonne 650 i sold last year was 'oilin' cause its a japanese name and she wasn't and because she had an oilin frame


the suz i had previous to her was called 'circe' cause the sight of me on her used to turn men into swine


my fazer is called 'tasha' - no particular reason except it's a dainty, pretty name and she's a dainty, pretty bike

I have never named any bike of mine , have however had a reoccuring phrase that comes up far too regulaly , genraly as I am about to do another track inspection or riding gear test , the phrase is , Shit not again. Ex wife used to call my old GSXR , Nasty bitch , now thats what I call her.

As you can see on the right hand corner mine is the VTZ of doom. I was taking the piss a bit with that one as shes a small bike but no one expects it to go as well as it does due to its size and its apperance.

My first RSVR was called Sophia(Loren) but died a day later...current RSVR is called Gina (Lollabrigida). Both named after sexy italian actresses; probably need to keep this one cos I don't know any more italian actresses names. My wife refers to the bike as my italian mistress.

The yellow SV650 I had was called Hermione cos the kids were into Harry Potter and it needed a girls name. Also don't know any japanese film stars.

My CB250RS is called `Natalie'. After a friend of mine (I've never told her this, she probably wouldn't like to hear it lol, but I have a few friends called Natalie so they wouldn't know which one).

Well, my bike is definitely female, so it needs a female name. Natalie is a few years older than me (like the bike); is slightly slow to start (I mean, takes a while to get jokes etc -- my bike is a bastard to start); isn't really the fastest athlete (it's a single cylinder 250); doesn't speak awfully good English (the bike's Japanese); is pretty, in a sort of old-fashioned practical way; she's fairly docile sort of girl, doesn't get too mad or furious; sometimes gets a bit upset and has a breakdown (I've got the head off for the third (or fourth?) time); has a nice, friendly, kind heart.

Those are a few reasons, but somehow the personality just matches. Hope her boyfriend doesn't know I'm riding her :D.
