Yeah, saw that. Pleased the parents are going to be "instructed", though.

My daughter got a kitten about ten years ago that had been tormented by the owner's little kids and he's still scared of males, though I can freely pet him.

You said it..................the only excuse could be that they were so young they didnt realize what they were doing........if so why were they alone and why did they have access to a swimming pool...................if they were old enough to no better then they all need a huge walloping on there backsides but as this country has gone completly mad all that will happen is a talking to and in another few years they will begin the first stage of incarceration.....

why was there no fence around the pool. Or if there was, how did they get into it. I thought you could be charged if you didn't have a fenced pool?

Saw a kid i our street with a puppy only a few weeks old just before christmas. She had taken it outside (without her mums knowledge) to show the neighbours. The way she was holding it, it looked like it was gonna fall any second. Although she meant no harm I made he take it home again.

I have a 5 yr old nephew and 3 yr old and 2 yr old nieces. Each of them knows to treat animals (and other primates!) with respect and would never have done this to an animal.

Makes you wonder what these kiddies have been taught (or not taught) by their parents. And also makes you worry what these kiddies will be up to in 10 years time...

There is now plenty of evidence around that says "the younger kids are when they abuse animals, the more likely they are to abuse humans in later life. This more than likely involves wives, husbands, children and friends."

Go figure.....

Saw the news item on One tonight - one of the kittens in question looks just like my one did when I got her...

The kittens in question looked great after a bit of TLC from the vet, after this bloody stupid action by those kids...

Millions of people die in Africa.
Yes, true... but you can't help people who aren't prepared to help themselves.

Unfortunately with THIS story, these kittens can't fight back and the little fuc*ers who did it to them should NEVER be allowed to own an animal.

Jorja
6th January 2007, 19:30
from what i understand these kids were very young and had never hurt the mother cat in the past. sounds like they were treating them like toys and had never been taught to respect animals.

Thing that bothers me about a story like this is if it was a dog and the dog had bitten them to protect itself, it would have been destroyed.

You're absolutely right - that's the difference between animals and humans. If someone torments a dog and it retaliates and tries to protect itself, it's the dog's fault!

If there's one thing I can't handle, it's people being mean to animals.

Exactly the same question I posed to a council pool "inspector" a while back.
The council hasn't fenced the streams and ponds in its jurisdiction, so how can it persecute home owners?
Strangely enough, I only received waffle in response...

Yes, true... but you can't help people who aren't prepared to help themselves. You mean the exploited people ravaged by AIDS, climate, civil war and international debt?

Of course they're not prepared...

Jorja

purely because people tend to watch kids more around pools. My brother has a property that has a stream run through the middle. He is not required to fence it. Stupid if ya ask me

well all i would like to see and sounds a bit sick but if these 5 year old kids can't swim lets throw them in the pool and throw them off the trampoline and generally push them about and see how they like it ... my cat is amazing but i know he must have had someone a bit pissy before we got him because he is always a bit weary and a bit too bitey playful. but hell should be some sort of list "oh hell mr james sorry but when you were 5 you beat a cat half to death so you can piss off if you think your owning an animal" i wouldn't even let those kids into a petting zoo with that sort of attitude ... but just my 2c worth of weird comments anyway

Apparently it was a paddling pool but as everyone knows, kids can drown in a couple of inches of water (shame these tossers didn't) so they should still have been supervised. As for harming the kittens, they ARE old enough to know how to treat animals with respect. One parent didn't give a shit, the other (who owned the kittens) was horrified and immediately disciplined her children. The SPCA has kept the kittens and I doubt the owner would want them back as she must realise her kids can't be trusted yet, and the kids next door won't have any problem harming them again as they won't be told off by their parents.

My husband read the item in the paper and said "four kids? Naenae? Four different fathers then." Probably not far wrong.

I have grown up around animals my whole life .. & i can remember getting a damn good walloping for teasing our old dog with food when i was about 4, never forgotten the dressing down fr my dad or the wallop .. & have respected animals ever since ..

but thats right we live in a very PC age .. do not smak kids when they are being naughty after all they are only kids & too young to know any better ... so when does it become appropriate ? My bro's 4 kids all raised same way we were .. got a smak when they were lil & teased dog/cats .. now older (6-12) they are very respectful when it comes to animals, funnily enough themselves & other ppl

I guess thats the difference these days .. in some families the kids are raised, in others they are not !!

I also agree violence in kids so young, will perpetuate as they are older .. starts off with animals & eventuates from there

That's how it is, growing tomorrows scumbags today.
Which just reminded me of the parents comments after the 13 year old was shot by his mate, "It was no-ones fault, it was an accident".
I've got news for them, it was their fault. They were supposed to be supervising those kids.
I suppose with a 'systemic failure, no one is to blame' Govt, that attitude is only to be expected.

beemer...sounds about bloody right!

id like to bring those kittens home, but dad would have a fit...we already feed two strays [one of which we are going to attempt to trap and get him fixed] plus our own 3. a large tin of cat meat lasts about a day here.

and as for those starving africans, theyve been starving for about 20 years now...when will they realise...if they cant feed themselves, they cant feed kids either. they dont have the energy to plant some seeds, but have energy to procreate? somehow i consider food more important than getting laid. maybe im just weird?

with live aid we should have raised money for condoms rather than food ... go ahead screw yourself to death but don't bloody think of having a family

That's the stupid thing - we could flood the country with condoms and education about safe sex, but these people know how their babies are made yet they still have sex! It's not sex ed. they need, but a change in their belief that sex with x number of virgins will cure aids. Hence my comment that you can't help people who won't help themselves...
