View Full Version : Wanted: Yamaha XV750 tank badges

The title says it all really, I have an XV750 without any tank emblems and want a couple of them. The bike arrived to me without them so I can't begin to wonder why someone would take them off.
My bike is a 1983 XV750 but they probably use the same badge on a lot of bikes of that vintage, attached are some photos. If anyone hads a whole tank then I'll pay you for it - just as long as it has the badges!

Don't have the Letters but have the small round tuning fork badges on my Faux tank that I'll probably be getting rid of soon.

Yes I've got a couple of them too, plus a couple of Yamaha stickers but neither of these will cover the old badge holders so I would need to bog and repaint the tank which I am trying to avoid. I will keep looking anyway thanks.

Hi there...

I found a couple in my drawer off my old XV.. only 1 is useable though.. & it needs a bit of glue & a paint.. & it might come up ok.. the other one is stuffed. You're welcome to come & have a look & see what you think!

Thanks Jen, Ok so now I've got one goody and it's on the bike looking good. I will try ebay again... just ran my bike through the testing station and it failed for the front brake hose among other things - turns out you can't have one of those stainless braided ones as they don't have the right stamps on the ends... oh well back to the wrecker for a replacement.

You can have them you just have to make sure that they are legal. Something to do with the fittings on each end.
Gonna be getting ahold of one of thoe shops in the links for a set for my VMax in a couple of weeks, after I get new tyres.

I can let you have a tank badge , only thing is the gold finish is worn off and I am not sure which side it is.Let me know which side you need and I will ride out to the farm and check for you as its stored on the family farm just outside of Thames.I see several sellers on ebay selling front guards if you are still looking. You will have to put some more pic,s of your bike up so we can see how its developed.I managed to find two complete chrome plated Virago left and right filter and mixture covers from the USA for my xv , they are now fitted and look good.Another alternative for your badges is to try Glen Rangiuia as he was advertising parts on Trademe several weeks ago.

Actually I thought they were both the same, I have fitted the one I got already to the right hand side and it looks the part so I guess I need the left hane side one. The problem with the ebay guards is the shipping cost, like $US100 plus to get one here so I have used an XJ750 front guard (black and paintable, not chrome) and it looks bloody good. This is my other bike which will be all black and chrome I think when it is done. I have given in a bought a couple of tank badges off ebay for a 1983 XJ650 which look very similar if not the same so I'll let you know how they turn out when they arrive. Now I am looking for a master cylinder with a brake switch for either an XV750 or any other Yamaha road bike as mine just cost me a warrant! Keep up the good work Pat.
