The Quasimoto “Speedster” Leather Jacket Review.

I purchased this jacket in about August 2006, the idea behind purchasing it was to have something a little more user friendly than my Technic Stinger Jacket, because Cordura just doesn’t breathe!
Despite what the advertisements say, I have found the arms and armpits on the Technic to be particularly sweaty when not riding, so hence the need for some leather.

The prime motivation for purchasing this jacket however, was Quasi was having his 1 year birthday sale, and due to a series of coincidences, I managed to get this jacket at a great price.
Initially I found it hard to not wear this jacket, I loved it. Compared to my old Technic, this jacket was much more dressy, but also more comfortable when working in my office, or attending various meetings.

However, the stitching on the particular jacket, started to come apart in the sleeves and the right pocket, and the lining that covers the leather came apart at the stitching too.

Quasi promptly repaired this for me, but now it has come apart again, In the same sleeve too. “Zero Index” has a Quasi Jacket, and his seems fine. “the flux capacita” has the same model as me, and his one still is fine, and trust me, I don’t wear mine that often anymore, neither has it had a hard life.
My only guess is that my one was something that slipped past the quality control in Pakistan…

WINJA, Crazy Steve, The Dover and Inlinefour all mentioned poor quality stitching when I had a chat with them over the jacket, although for less than $280 what can you expect?
Quasi Gear cannot be beaten on price (bar lifestyle imports on which im hoping to review), and my stunt jacket still appears to be in good order, and i have seen flux's gear after he crashed in it, all very good for the price paid..

i said nothing of the sort.

I said quasi's gear was stitched by child slaves using finest pakistani camel leather for the princely sum of 3c a month.

I have had some stitching issues on the inside liner but Quasi was more than happy to swap the jacket.

The new jacket had the same problem, so Mrs KD sewed it up for me at just over the 3c per month going rate.

Still waiting on mine...was suitably impressed with the quality on the sports pants that I have received though.

The Linings have changed from a silk type to a stretchy mesh fabric, the durability of this lining is ten times better than the old one.
Dover and Winja do not own a QUASiMOTO jacket so Im not sure of the reason why you mention their names, and Dover would not say anything derogatory about my gear online he would say it to my face.

We have made numerous quality changes to our gear and we are 100% focused on getting as much durability as we can, this has been the case with Linings, Zips and closures, Cut and Style etc etc etc, it is a long term process getting everything right the proof would be in the crash durability where the QUASiMOTO brand has surpassed anything else I have ever seen.

CARVER, if you have an issue take it up with me personally, I find it a bit off that you posted this without talking to me.

I can vouch for the stretchy lining.
I've got it, and have seen no evidence of any problems.

Especially since he mentions going to you before and you being more than helpful getting the problem repaired.

Plus mentions all his mates who have one without a problem.

I can vouch for that. Speed tested at 80-90k's. Leathers where scuffed and some broken stiching, but I walked away without a scratch on me. :niceone:

Can't vouch for the jacket, as mine has not arrived yet, but can certainly vouch for the pants.
I had an off and scuffed up my pants (hXc tells me they have street cred now!) I slid about 60 ft, broke a couple of bones, but my skin stayed intact.
The stitching is fine everywhere apart from the munted knee stretch panel.
I'm bloody glad I was wearing them, would hate to see my leg if I wasn't.

I've had my gear (pants and Jacket) since early last year. The first jacket I had was too small (poor communication on my behalf) swapped no problems. The next jacket had the silky lining that has since been changed - swapped no problems. I pointed out anything (fully and frankly) to Quasi about anything and everything I thought that either could be improved or modified with the gear I have and they have either been addressed or explained. To be perfectly honest - I have never had the level of customer service from anyone that I have had from Quasi and his wife.

I reccomend Quasi gear because it does what it's supposed to do. If you have any problems at all talk to the man (or woman) and it gets sorted - quickly and easily.

bought a bit of stuff off him, all good, one minor problem in early shipment, offered my money back or repair for me at no cost(including free freight both ways) got the repair done, all sorted no problems since, would be happy to buy more stuff off him .

Am happy to recomend Quaziemoto brand,

and despite appauling taste in bikes (duc:sick: -kawa- duc) Brets not a bad sort to deal with.

Same here, had no probs dealing with Quasi, good bloke and decent gear at good prices.
I do not read the original post as a criticism of Quasi or the product, only as a comment on the gear as this person experienced it, however, it should probably have been done in consultation with Quasi for best results.

i have the sports pants with the sliders and have found them to be awesome. Quasi was great to deal with - pants arrived in good time and were more than I expected to be frank. The stretchy lining is better than others I have had in more expensive pants. Oh - and they give great arse ....... ahem

i've said it once and i'll say it again.

for the price you pay for Brett's gear (leather gear not gear gear), including the extra discount most of you cunts get, you cant beat it in the new zealand market. (now where's my commission bitch?)

the jacket I rode in smelled a bit funny tho but I think that's cos that gay bitch GIXser wears womens perfume (and underwear)

I have the strecthy lining in my jacket and pants from QM and have no problems what so ever.

Even the zip around the waist that joins the jackets to the pants meets up nice and true.

wish my 'full-zip' fitted properly on my pants and jacket.. liner on mine is a slight bit torn from putting the jacket on and taking it off, but hey, it doesn't bother me much...

Mate thats an easy fix, the original problem we had was the Jacket joiner Zip was longer than the pants joiner zip, simply because the dimensions of the garments where different, for example a 42 inch Jacket has a longer zip (obviously) to a 32 inch pant.
the answer is in both sets of gear you will see the other end of the one joined to the pants (for example) so both female and male zips are supplied on each item, the fix is simple, get the other side of the Zip supplied with your pants and stitch it equally in the middle of your Jacket, I can do that for you if you wish.
Now we have rationalised the pants and Jackets to match, for example
if you buy a 30-38 inch pants it will fit a 40-46 Jacket, if you buy a 40-46 Pants it will fit a 46+ Jacket. So the problem is now fixed.

We really try hard on getting these little things soughted, We believe strongly now that our gear is 100% soughted, cant think of any design styling issues left to conquer.

We are now focusing on new style One Piece that are freckin cooler than cool
New Rapid Series Jackets which we have a sample of and its AWESOME
We have ordered a new range of gloves with TPU technology (same as those $200 ++ gloves , these are fucking awesome gloves.
We will have new style race boots sooon
we have coming Cargo and Jeans in Kevlar style

We have been going two years, had some issues for sure as any new business has but we are 100% focused on QUASiMOTO and in 2007 we are aiming for a better product for you guys n gals

And Bret showed superb customer service by hand delivering the gear to my work himself!

Top people to deal with, Im a happy customer.

bret is a great guy to deal with, and i do have confidence in his gear, this review was in no way intended to be a criticisim of bret, of his gear, but a honest review.
bret was asked if i could review this product, and he did agree to it, so here is the review.
i strongly dislike the ass kissing journo's in alot of mainstream mag's, due to their approach of - going easy - on reviews, i dont think i have ever read a critical review on gear in a mainstream mag!
bret is a great guy to deal with, very outgoing, and it would just seem as though the jacket was the odd one out, hence the quoting of other owners having a good run with their jackets.

Crashed nice shiney new one piece on a 4th gear corner at teretonga, so can't say for sure the speed, but about 180 or a tadge more. Rolled more times than I care to count. Net result, hole worn in arm the size of half a 10 cent piece, and total of 10 cm of stiching to be re done.
New lining is the bizzo.
One couldn't ask for better, and I'd rather wear a good bastards gear than line the pockets of some commodities company that owns 15 leather brands.

Cheers for saving my (tattooed) arse yet again Bretimoto ;)

Amazing how everyone recommends Brett's gear, and some people think that its just mates sticking up for him of something. Well maybe he has so many mates cause he has great products at a great price with great customer service.

Ive got the same jacket and couldnt be happier with it. also got the pants too, no complaints either. I did my research when buying my leathers and this fitted all my critrea. Well spent money.

only suggestion: can you update your jackets so when you put them on with a t-shirt, they dont rub my 2 day suntan and cause it to peel! haha, o well back out in the sun this weekend to get it back!

Final say, great jacket!
