Ok, so my tensioner is getting a bit rattly lately so i think it needs to be replaced again. I have had a look at the manual and it seems soooo simple i can't believe i paid someone last time. anyway is all i need a new spring for it? has anyone got an invoice for getting theirs replaced so i can get an approximate price for parts?
Cheers

I would take the old one out, clean it up and put it back in for a starter. If you've had it replaced before there should be little cause to replace it again anytime soon unless you've done some major ks since.
..and yes easy as to do yourself, just get the manual and it will tell you how to put it back on (the only thing you might not be able to figure out), though that's pretty obvious too. Of course you could just ask here too :)

if you are mechanically minded then cleaning it up as per sefer's suggestion is a good start.
From memory its $100 for a cam chain, $80 for tensioner... i remember it was $180 + labour when i got mine done.

Thanks, sounds good. yeah might just pop it of clean it up for the time being till the cash starts rolling in from my first full time job after uni! It was a couple of years ago i last got it replaced, but i have been clocking up some miles on her, at one time doing 140km a day, 5 days a week.
Anyway looks like a job for sunday.
Thanks guys

what makes you think that the tensioner is faulty? Is the cam chain stlll within its service limits?

Be carefull, when you remove the tensioner there will be no tension on the chain, it is VERY easy for the chain to skip a tooth and you will have very bent valves when you wind it over. Unless you know how to set the cam timing also don't touch it. Sounds more like the chain needs replacing though.
Cheers, Jeff.
